Bernyce Pratt-Wallingford (well, back when she was simply Bernice Wallingford) graduated from the Collegiate School of New Haven* in the Class of 1904 with a degree in Art. Her parents paid the bills for their daughter to take a Grand Tour.
She had a very interesting journey. She took a job as a governess to a grand-nephew of the Prince of Liechtenstein, and supposedly had an affair with the cousin of the then-King of Italy before leaving Europe. Bernice also visited Kenya and India before reaching Japan in time to attend the Cherry Blossom Festival in 1909.
Reports to the effect that she seduced the Crown Prince of Japan are - well, we only have her word for it.
After returning to New Haven via Canada, she settled down and married Reginald Pratt, who later died during the Great War. Soon after that, she changed her first name to Bernyce because it was "more exotic."

Never got that far. Possibly bovine.
The Crown Prince of Japan was Yoshihito, by the way (now known as the Emperor Taisho, Hirohito's dad - he was about 10 years older than Bernice).
Since the House of Savoy's one of the oldest houses in Europe (deriving from Saxony) I'd venture a guess that they were wolves at first; they'd be Bracco Italiano (Italian Pointer) at this point.
