I... oh my. In a way I'm happy for him, chances are he's happier now, and I couldn't help but smile at his memories - sad, but happy all the same.

My grandmother died of Alzheimer's in 2003 on Christmas Eve. The last time we heard from her was a few months prior when she called to wish us a happy Christmas. What it must be like to live with such a disease on a daily basis...

No doubt you had to refresh your memory; fortunately the archived written word helps.
I couldn't recall much from those days myself, and had no room to keep my journals.
I do recall I that one of my college papers was on Dylan Thomas' poem "Do Not Go Gentle...." and I argued, even then, to go quietly after witnessing this affliction with members of my family.
This story seemed the fursonification of said poem in the mind of the sufferer and why it is blessed relief.
