I thought that a Snivy causing mind change and physical transformation might have had connections to each other. It is a very specific concept, after all.

Yeah but The Smuggest of the Best features plush transformation as well. The ones in these stories are just regular Snivy that just so happen to be able to assimilate humans and Pokemon.
