- Powers up Water-type moves when the Pokémon's HP is low.

Unique Ability: Roberto's Boiling Ocean
- By soaking his Scalchops with some steaming water, Roberto gains a 15% chance of inflicting Burn on a target with his next Razor Shell. However, consecutive uses will cause the Scalchops to eventually break, burning his hands in the process.
- Alternatively, Roberto can drink the water to increase his blood circulation, gaining a temporary Speed boost. If used for too long, he runs the risk of passing out from severe exhaustion & dehydration.

Nature: Naive

Personality: Mature and kind, albeit socially awkward.

Strengths:
- Decent at battling in wet areas
- Can be quite devastating with a Focus Energy/Razor Shell combo
- Extremely friendly to those who get to know him

Weaknesses:
- Prone to outbursts of rage/anger if constantly harassed
- Tends to be rather shy whenever isolated
- Scared to death of Pokémon he refers to as "predators" (i.e. Carvanha, Sharpedo, Ursaring, Braviary),
- His naivety can lead him to be easily exploited by others
- Has a habit of breaking down to tears if reminded of his past (though he tries to keep a straight face)

Backstory:
- Born in a family of Samurott taught in the Bushidō code, Hotate was set to be trained by their leader (Lord Ashika) as a potential successor. However, after his family was brutally ambushed by the fearsome Kaeru Clan, he was forced to leave at a young age for the sake of his safety, with his parents seemingly lost in the chaos.
At first, the young Oshawott simply wandered across the land and local river, doing his best to avoid conflict with various Pokémon in the wild, all to poor results. Following a barrage of close calls and losses, Hotate would find shelter within a decaying temple and stumble across a set of abandoned paint buckets. This finally convinced the Oshawott that in order to survive, he’d have to toughen up and sever all ties to his past.
And so, Hotate would paint over his entire body to further distinguish himself, before proceeding to gather as many Berries as he could. From there, he would spend several years to improve and hone his moveset alone in the temple, only leaving to restock on Berries. Eventually, Hotate would evolve into a Dewott during a meditation session, changing his name to Roberto in the process.
Shortly after, he set out to not only find his place in the world, but to also make a friend.
