Computational archaeology offers all sorts of insights - if nothing else, running software on an architecture that's so obsolete nobody remembers how it works can add an extra layer of security (even if security-by-obscurity should never be relied on all by itself). Besides, who wouldn't want to be able to say that their brain runs on Fortran? :)
