Princess Kiara wasn't the only lioness in the Pridelands to form a romance with a lion from the Outlands. Not long after Kovu rescued her from the wildfire, Zuri ended meeting Nuka, Kovu's older adopted brother. With Kiara spending most of her time with Kovu and Tiifu taking to hunting lessons, Zuri wasn't able to spend as much time with them as she used to, and longed for some sort of company. This results in her meeting Nuka, who had been slinking around the border of the Pridelands at the time. Granted, he wasn't the strongest lion and he had a very unkempt mane, but Zuri ended up being drawn to him by his goofy nature. The two of them decided to meet in secret after their first meeting as they both enjoyed each others company. During their second meeting, the two of them practiced pouncing, which then lead to a playful game of chase, and then...
Zuri had hoped to meet Nuka again for a third time. But as she waited for him in their usual spot, Nuka never came. When she finally returned home, she discovers that her friend Kiara has run away and that the Pridelands were going to war against another pride called the Outsiders. The battle is fierce, but Kiara and Kovu show up to put a stop to it once and for all, which then results in the Outsider's leader Zira falling to her death in the nearby gorge.
After the Outsiders join the Pridelands, Zuri goes looking around hoping to find Nuka among the newcomers. She ends up meeting his younger sister Vitani, and it's from her that she learns of Nuka's fate. He wanted so desperately to prove himself to his mother that he tried to kill Simba himself during their ambush, which resulted in him being crushed to death by falling logs. Zuri is devastated to hear that he died, but she doesn't stay sad for long as she soon discovers that she is pregnant with his cubs. This news brought joy to Zuri as she would now have a part of Nuka with her for the rest of her life.
Zuri ends up giving birth to a son named Nufaika. He takes greatly after his late father, being a little goofy and pretty impulsive but also very strong and agile. He grows up into a strong, healthy lion and gentle-hearted lion, and his aunt and mother make sure that Nufaika knows that his father still watches over them in spirit, even though his earthly form is gone.
I decided to add Nuka x Zuri to my TLK universe. It's absolutely random and has zero backing in canon, but I ended up falling in love with this ship after discovering this cute fan comic created by TheSameDullKnife.
