Quivrii
"Demi-amorphicus oscillatus"
Quivrii are soft-bodied, orblike creatures originating from the Psychedelic world and parts of the Vaporrealm in Splithia. They tend to congregate around the floating islands, mountains, and dead mall entities in those regions.
The appendages on a quivrii’s body can be used to grab and manipulate objects like rudimentary hands, but their main purpose is to increase the surface area of the body. Inside the quivrii’s skin is a network of fine filaments that absorb and detect energy. The increased surface area allows them to feel the presence of predators and graze on ambient energy. The appendages also form into young when the quivrii reproduces. These appendages are soft and pliable and will regenerate if severed. In the case of wandering quivrii, the two lateral appendages are developed into wings.
A quivrii’s diet consists of mostly plants based foods like berries, nuts, and vegetables, ambient energy, mushrooms, and some animal products like cheese and honey. Eating more than a small amount of meat will make them extremely nauseous. Quivrii eat quite a bit for their size, so their cities are built with gardens and orchards incorporated into every piece of architecture. Chocolate is a big weakness for quivrii; they cannot resist it.
Quivrii face many problems in Splithia. Because their skin has energy sensitive filaments and is very lightweight, it’s actually an ideal material for making specialized wing suits and sails. This has led to many quivrii being hunted by Arsenians. In addition to being hunted, many other societies associate quivrii with a similar looking, but unrelated creature known as a corolangolier. These creatures were extremely destructive during the 8th Psychedelic War, so many other beings fear anything remotely like them.
A quivrii doesn’t have a lot in terms of defense, without training. One thing they do have in their favor is their ability to shake whenever they experience intense emotions. When frightened, quivrii vibrate rapidly side to side. The more panicked they are, the more violent and unpredictable their oscillations become. This allows them to shake off predators and become difficult to aim for. With training, quivrii can learn more advanced things, such as using their energy to attack or even transform. Wandering quivrii have heightened energy abilities.
One other thing quivrii have in their favor is their relationship with vaporsphinxes/vaporcores. Quivrii raise vaporsphinxes as pets, allowing them to grow to the formidable vaporcores.
