6 fanarts challenge
Fanart is good anti-artblock therapy. So I wanted to use the #sixfanarts challenge as a chance to draw characters that I'm crazy about but haven't really drawn yet. Except by the time I was half finished with this, I realized I had fucked up and misunderstood how it originally works; I was supposed to draw characters that my watchers suggest, not my own wishes. Oops.
Midna from the videogame Zelda Twilight Princess.
Best sidekick in Zelda history in my opinion, and also my favorite Zelda videogame at all for its dark world building and designs. It's also my favorite Zelda manga for its bonus dark stories that didn't make it into the game, but which hints you still see. Zelda Twillight Princess feels like it's made for the more adult audience which doesn't get spooked by Dead Hand anymore. I mean, this game gives you designs like shadow beasts, shadow insect boss, ooccoo birds, and death sword, to name a few. Even your sword mentor, Hero's Shade, is spookmaster.
Sorry I just LOOOVE this Zelda game so much. It has that perfect balance between adventure, horror, and bittersweet tragedy.
Ninetails from the videogame Okami.
She felt like the only well-developed boss in the whole story, there was so much building up to her. Also, I fell in love with her design before I even played the game. Actually, I'm upset how there is no merch of her, I'd love a figurine or something.
The traveler (white robe skin) from the videogame Journey.
Journey is only videogame which has ever made me cry. No other videogame has touched me on a spiritual level like that before.
You all must play the original version for Playstation3 (or 4)! Because it came out for PC the other year, but I found out the music is buggy and doesn't get the timing right during important scenes too... which ruins the whole experience. Journey's music was nominated for the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media at the 2013 Grammy Awards- the first video game soundtrack EVER to be nominated for that category! And they ruined that atmosphere in the PC version. LOOK HOW THEY MASSACRED MY BOY. I was excited to go play the PC version when I heard it's available, because I've only borrowed my brother's Playstation4 to play Journey before.
Still ended up playing it for hours because the visuals are flawlessly amazing nonetheless.
Flotsam and Jetsam from Disney's Little Mermaid.
Honestly, they're the only Disney minions who are not incompetent idiots. Plus, I love how they each have that independent glowing "spy eye" that locks their target for Ursula's crystal ball to show. Which makes them the only occasionally cross-eyed characters I know which don't look silly because of it.
Plus, these characters made me look up more about moray eels and discover their intelligence. Like they actually team up with different species to hunt, using communication signals and stuff. Also, they hide a second mouth inside their mouth that can move back and forth, to grab what the first mouth holds and pull it back. Which inspired the design for Alien, eventually.
Moray eels are just super cool animals, and I love them!
Terra from the cartoon series Teen Titan.
All my favorite characters die or disappear forever because script writers hate me.
The Voice from the videogame Furi.
Furi is some fucking Asian-level skill videogame. And also a very unique, atmospheric one with outstanding music! What I love most is how everything only starts making sense and explaining itself completely as you get to the end, including this guy's dialogs here. Damn. I enjoy stories with brutal realization twists that make me yell "OHHHHHHH!!" at the screen. I don't know, it's the simple videogames which always get me more than the super detailed ones.
By the way, I couldn't get past the Burst in normal Furi difficulty mode so far. ;-; From there I rage quit and went to beat this game in easy mode instead. But the huge difference between these two difficulty modes is ridiculous and designed to make me feel worse about my skills, lmao. Like there is just a "no challenge at all" difficulty and "get one-hit killed because you didn't react 0.001 seconds sooner while doing your 1 health damage to your tank enemy which moves like lighting and teleports and has ten minions shooting at you with bullets and lasers from all sides at the same time" difficulty. And that's still just the "normal" difficulty by Furi standards. Not the alpha Asian difficulty.

dang it was 8 years ago when I uploaded it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGCy9A33S4E During that time there wasnt any soundtrack files so I had to use a capture card.
I found out that it helped me to think "Just start drawing, you can stop whenever you want (even if it's after 5 minutes already). But start drawing something!" in order to fight the artblock. Once you start drawing and get the flow going, you forget about time. Also, don't pressure yourself with any "I must finish this ASAP!!" thoughts. Just focus on the process, not the result.
It can also help a lot to browse for new music on Youtube for inspiring background music. Or have a favorite movie playing in the background while you're drawing. Just something fresh and positive to listen to while you're drawing.
Anyway, good luck fighting the artblock! :)

Thanks! Yes, Burst is interesting, has an interesting environment, and building up to her fight. Also, I finally got past her in the meantime (her final phase is insane, I barely made it with around 1-3 health left, lol)! But now I'm stuck with the next boss, the Edge. xD One day I shall beat this game in normal difficulty.
I feel you! I watched someone's let's-play on Furier when I got curious. Holy shit!
Also, there's this second DLC character, Bernhard. There are 9 rounds, he uses techniques from all bosses (and in the final round, he uses all of them at once), and you never get any health restore ever. That shit is the most intense fight I've watched from all Furi has to offer.
And I found it amusing to read the comments in that lets-play video, how this character is just called "Bernhard" when other characters are called "the Voice", "the Edge", "the Burst", and so on. Someone said that Bernhard simply should be called "the End". 8'D

If I'm not sure Bernhard was cut from the original game but the fight was mostly finished. So the devs just finished it and threw it as extra DLC. That's why. I believe the devs have the actual names of all the bosses but never said a thing. But aw man, definitely finish Furi! it's really satisfying. The Edge is hard if you didn't master parrying, but I managed to pass after 2 or 3 game overs.
