Caitians, are renowned as a calm, thoughtful and peaceful race by nature, and violence is not something that is generally accepted in their culture. However, Karalle M'Rerra never considered herself a 'normal Caitian' or even a 'good' Caitian. She's had to fight all her life to escape her overbearing parents and clan members and follow her dream to join Starfleet. She also believes that she's more aware of life's realities and dangers than the rest of her species, because she's seen many of her friends and comrades injured or killed in the line of duty. As a result, she is fiercely loyal to those she loves, but has a strong protective instinct both to her ideals and these people as well. Those who dare to cross her or get on her bad side...beware...hell hath no fury like M'Rerra's wrath.

Very good point. Klingons, even honorable ones, know a thing or two about how to use an enemy's emotions against them. Fortunately, at this point in my headcanon, the Federation and the Klingons are on better terms but, yeah that could be a possibilty. I've always wanted to do a story about her coming home with Mark and having to face her parents and clan and come to grips with the effect her choices have had on them and what her clan thinks about her associating with aliens, particular humans. The word is that Caitians have a tendency to view humans as patronizing.
True, though the remains of house Torg could still want revenge.
And that could be a interesting story, Mark.... would be highly scrutinized for that trip never mind the rest of the crew. And she'd be heavily challenged to show them that her choices lead to a positive out come and not what her clan and family think they lead to.
Admittedly not too well versed in her species ways and culture, never heard of them largely till well.... spotted your account here XD but suppose with how they view humans does explain why the amount of them seems sparce in sto compared to other federation races.
