This is much more for personal use - many people have to wear masks everywhere now. They are not for protecting against the virus, but for protecting other people from coughs/moisture that may be carrying it.

If the viruses are on your mask, you already got COVID-19 anyway, as they'd have come from YOUR breath. The masks are for OTHER people's protection. But if everyone wears one, the virus has a far, far tougher time spreading.
A little bleach in water would also do wonders for disinfecting the mask.
You obviously don't want one of Royalty's masks, but right now, a lot of places won't even let you in the door if you ain't wearing one. So get with the program.

Yes, the masks are only being worn widely because so many people are either infected, or they are wearing them from government orders. Most masks don't do much to protect yourself, although N95 masks by 3M (recently sold out) are meant for woodworking and could potentially increase your safety. Most masks are not sterilized, so they only rely on the mask to contain the virus from your breath. These are definetly not meant for medical purposes, more casual purposes like Royalty suggested, so if you work in a medical field, continue using an N95 mask, as they are far safer, but for casual use, these masks would work.
