Named because her hair color reminds me of sakura blossoms - a cute anime styled catgirl.
I tried to do something in an older style of mine, using cel style shading with acrylic paints.
Acrylics on 8"x8" Gessobord.

I couldn't believe this was acrylic!!! Do you use much liquid medium? What brand of acrylic do you prefer?
Those eyes are to die for!!!! I admit I have a weakness for darling anime furry faces ^_^ Plus the combo of pastel pink, blue, and yellow, which has been my favorite pallete since I discovered those colors in the first grade :D

Thank you =D I'm glad you like it!
My preferred brand of acrylics at the moment are the Golden Fluid Acrylics, mixed with just a touch of Golden Acrylic Glazing Liquid (satin finish), for retarding the drying time...
Halfway through painting this, I realized that the color palette was virtually identical to the colors on my wristwatch - which I found amusing =)

Thank you =D.. Yeah, its acrylics mixed with an acrylic glazing liquid to thin them and slow the drying time...
I actually used to paint fan cels with acrylics on acetate, so this isn't that different from that. The secret is lots of layering, and thick creamy colors.

I am going to be selling this at Further Confusion - and it already has its own presentation, which is somewhat unique - it is done on a deep-cradled (2") Gessobord, which is a primed piece of masonite mounted on a pine (I think) cradle. I saw a few of these at the art store and I picked up 5 of them because I thought they were so cool ^.^ http://www.pearlpaint.com/shop~pare.....oryID~9984.htm
I actually got the Gessobord at a place called Art Media - so I guess its probably something that many art stores carry - though I doubt Michaels would carry it.
Dick Blick also carries 'em =). And yeah - they aren't too expensive for the nice presentation you get =). I'd say they're comparable to a nice pre-cut double mat.
