So the river looked really cool tonight just before the rain. So I ran home as quick as I could to grab my camera and tripod and set up at the river's edge.
20 minute exposure with my raincoat set on top of my camera to help protect it from water. The two lines off on the right paw side is from two planes that flew by mid-exposure (there's a large airport a couple miles up the river).
I'm kinda pissed with this image actually. For one, I forgot to switch on Noise Reduction, so there's some areas with heavy noise if you look closely. Two, I forgot to switch back to RAW format after shooting Gerald Ford's funeral procession through town to accommodate faster camera speed and more storage. Three, the two hot-spots in the upper left corner are bugging the HELL out of me. I desaturated them slightly to get rid of a little bit of the purple glow (it was much stronger).
But overall, while I'm pissed with it, I'm still very satisfied with my first 20 minute exposure.

I think it came out great! Those hot spots are something us Nikon users have to deal with if you don't use NR on long exposures (mine are in the same exact spot). Those pixels are mapped out from the CMOS in post processing and you get the actual data behind them before they start to 'glow'.
I think this photo came out really well. :) Love long exposures! *hug*

*Hugs back* Thanks!
Yeah, like I said, I was kinda kicking myself in the tail because about half way through the exposure, I stopped and thought to myself "Oh crap...NR isn't turned on. >.< "
And then when I uploaded them to my computer, it was, "Hey, why can I see a thumbnail for it rather than the .nef icon.....oh...wait..."
So yeah, a little frustration, but I learned my lesson.
