The Ascendancy Aeronautics AA-58 'Shredder' is the mainstay fighter used by the Strax Ascendancy. It succeeds where more specialized craft fail, having balanced speed, heavier armor, good maneuverability and good space for various loadout options, it is highly versatile and can perform multiple roles, including space superiority, atmosphere superiority (being trans-atmo), interception and assault.
Utilizing twin Luna Tech L-113 reaction drives for its powerplant along with a Luna Tech L-1145 class 2 warp drive, the trans-atmospheric nature of the Shredder gives it a advantage over the Solaran Union's dedicated zero-g only fighter craft which do not have any warp drive of their own and the Union's specialized atmosphere fighters. However, its downside is the large target profile it presents when in combat due to its larger size, though in the eyes of the SA its weapon capability and armor balances this.
