The SA-11, utilizing the same technology as other small arms fielded by the Strax Ascendancy, is a hybrid, gauss-assisted, semi-automatic offensive handgun and the standard issue sidearm for all branches of the Ascendancy military.

One of the Ascendancy’s first truly original designs, as opposed to being an update or redesign of an older Straxian Empire weapon, the SA-11 was developed by the Strak Arms design bureau. Like several other weapons developed in a similar timeframe, the catalyst for the development of the SA-11 was an order from the Grand General of the Ascendency. Unlike the Straxian Empire’s Self Defence Force, the Grand General desired for each serviceman and servicewoman in the Ascendancy’s military to be issued with a sidearm, regardless of their role or position.

The Strak Arms design bureau took the contract created by this order and developed two designs for the handgun. The first would be a smaller framed pistol chambered to use a 6mm cartridge, while the second would be a larger, full metal frame, design chambered in an 11mm “.45 Magnum” cartridge. While some would say there was never any competition between the two designs, it is true that the larger model was swiftly chosen over its competitor. With a design picked, the weapon was dubbed the S-11 during further development, before becoming the SA-11 after its completion and entrance into mass production.

With high stopping power, a high magazine capacity for its round size and excellent range, the SA-11 has become a favourite among the service personnel of the Strax Ascendancy and its allies. In addition to the weapon’s already eye-catching traits, the SA-11 also includes a recoil compensation system to assist the shooter in accurately placing follow up shots onto their target. Moreover, akin to many other small arms in the Ascendancy’s arsenal, the weapon features an ammunition counter to aid the shooter during combat or other high stress situations.

Two alternate variants of the SA-11 exist, both also produced by Strak Arms. The SA-11C is a simple compact redesign developed for officers and agents of the AKB intelligence agency. The SA-11C removes the ammunition counter, features a shortened barrel and utilises a smaller, single stack, magazine to slim down the weapon’s profile and improve its concealability. A machine pistol variant of the SA-11, designated the SA-11F, was also developed for use by the Ascendancy's Seraphim jump troopers.
