Chapter 5

A few weeks rolled by, and Dusk Shine and Twilight Sparkle's fifteen puppies indeed got their spots. One evening, Dusk Shine, Twilight Sparkle, and their puppies were watching a heroic dog named Flash Magus chasing after an earth pony riding in a carriage, and shooting at him named Svengallop. "Come on, Flash Magnus!" A puppy named Charity Kindheart said. "Come on, Flash Magnus!" Another puppy named Dumb-Bell said. "Go get him, Flash Magnus!" Another puppy named Doctor Horse said. Another puppy named Bubble Berry barked to cheer Flash Magnus on. "After him, boy!" Another puppy named Sandbar said. "He'll get that dirty ol' thief!" Another puppy named Rainbow Blitz said. "Ol' Flash Magnus is the greatest dog in all of Equestria!" Another puppy named Clear Skies said. "He's even better than dad." Rainbow Blitz said. Another puppy named Moon Dancer shook her head, and said "No dog's better than dad." Another puppy named Braeburn who was sitting on his father's head then said "What's he going to do dad?" Dusk Shine shushed him, and said "Let's just wait and see."

On the TV screen, Flash Magnus climbed onto a rock as he looked out for Svengallop who was slinking behind some rocks. A puppy named Derpy Hooves giggled, and said "Look, at him run, the old coward." As Rainbow Blitz chewed on the rug, he said "That old dirty Svengallop! The yellow-livered old skunk! I'd like to tear his gizzard out!" "Why, Rainbow Blitz, where did you ever hear such talk?" Twilight Sparkle asked offended. She glared at Dusk Shine who stared nervously as she said "Certainly not from your mother." As Flash Magnus looked around, Svengallop prepared to shoot at him, and Moon Dancer said "Watch out, Flash Magnus!" Svengallop shot at Flash Magnus who ducked in the nick of time. "Don't worry, Moon Dancer." Rainbow Blitz said chewing on the rug. "He'll get that yellow-livered-!" He stopped talking when his mother glared at him. He stopped chewing on the rug as he said "Well, he'll get him all right." Then, another puppy named Big Mac jumped on the TV, blocking the screen as another puppy named Upper Crust said "Big Mac, get down! We can't see!" Another puppy named Countess Coloratura looked at Twilight Sparkle as she said "Mother, make him get down!"

"Come on, Big Mac." Twilight Sparkle said. "Down dear." Big Mac got down, and sat on the floor. On the TV screen, Flash Magnus bounced past the bullet when Svengallop attempted to shoot at him as Moon Dancer said "Missed him! Missed him by a mile!" Then, Bubble Berry looked at Twilight Sparkle as he said "I'm hungry, mother. I'm hungry." "Now, Bubble Berry, you've just had your dinner." Twilight Sparkle said. "But, I am just the same." Bubble Berry said. "I'm so hungry.I could eat...a whole elephant." His siblings shushed him as Svengallop appeared from behind the rock on the TV screen, and Big Mac said "There he is behind that rock!" As Svengallop made his shot, the puppies hid away. They peeked from their hiding places as another puppy named Lily Lace said "Oh dear. He shot poor Flash Magnus." "He missed him." Rainbow Blitz said as he scratched his ear. "Ol' Flash Magnus's pretending...I think." On the TV screen, Svengallop laughed sinisterly as he got closer to Flash Magnus who opened his one eye, revealing that he was indeed pretending, and Rainbow Blitz said "See, what did I tell you? That's one of his tricks!" As Big Mac got up in front of the TV screen, another puppy named Dashing Dare said "Big Mac, get down."

Suddenly, Svengallop appeared on the TV screen as he laughed sinisterly, scaring Big Mac as he backed up, and started barking at him. Svengallop prepared to make his move, but Flash Magnus got the jump on him as he tackled him, and they rolled over a cliff, and into a river. The puppies barked to cheer him on as Bubble Berry said "I'm hungry, mother. I really am." As they went over a waterfall, the pony TV announcer said "Don't miss next week's episode. Who will triumph?" "Ol' Flash Magnus always wins!" Rainbow Blitz said. Then, an earth pony named Big Bucks appeared on the tv holding a box of dog biscuts called Flash Crunchies as he said "And speaking of champions, friends, Flash Crunchies is the champion of all dog biscuits." As the theme song played, Dusk Shine looked at his wife as he said "Twilight, we better get these little nippers off to bed if we're going for a w-a-l-k." "We want to go to mother." Lily Lace said. "Can we mother?" Dashing Dare asked. "We never get to go." Charity Kindheart said. "Come along, puppies. Bedtime." Twilight Sparkle said as she led them to the kitchen."

"But we're not a bit sleepy." Rainbow Blitz said as he yawned. "We want to go for a walk in the park." "Dad, can we?" Braeburn asked. "Better do as your mother says." Dusk Shine said. As Twilight Sparkle led them to the bed in the kitchen, he said "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven. twelve, thirteen." "I'm not sleepy." Bubble Berry said as he walked into the kitchen. "Fourteen." Dusk Shine said. "Hmmm?" He spotted Big Mac near the TV as the theme song ended, and Big Bucks came back on, and he said "Remember, friends. Just send five-!" He got cut off when Dusk Shine turned the TV off, and he took Big Mac into the kitchen as he said "Big Mac, you little rascal. Let's go."
