50% more artist satisfaction on a job done gooder! (I'm not an artist)
Version 1.5(?) of Raziya - my female cheetah character for a story. Still not 100% happy with how it turned out, but I don't think I'll spend any more time fixing it. If I did, I'll be revising it for a week until I rage quit.

This version makes your previous version look awful suddenly. The new one looks so much more intentional and stylized, as if no where were you making guesses. Prof Oak: Wonderful!
Can you tell me what drawing things you did differently this time from your prior version?

Sorry if this answer is long and wordy...
Lots of paper. The previous version I used 4 sheets of paper. The new version took 5. I can't keep my hand steady to draw perfect lines. At rest, my hands twitch. Years of stress and factory
work. Using the pen was probably not a good idea because it bleeds on the paper. I just use a mechanical pencil, a black uniball rollerball pen and colored pencils.
I used my tablet as a backlight to trace over the half of the previous version I liked, then flipped the image to trace the other half...more or less so both halves were the same. I used different paper as well. The sketch paper has the natural, grain look to it. For this, I used normal copy paper, folded it in half and used the one half to trace the image in pen, then folded it back to retrace it in pencil. After that was done, I did the ear fluff, spots, filled in the dark areas, then scanned it just in case on my cheap all-in-one printer - even though I haven't had ink in it in years. I went around the outside of the lines to create the furry look. I colored the eyes and was going to call it good. I wanted to make it furry-er. So I started to add the fur lines to the inner ears and face using short, medium pressure strokes. Small, dot like strokes for the muzzle, longer for the face and even longer for the fur above the bridge of the muzzle. Then I freehanded the neck lines, added fur to the outside, spots, then long fur lines. After I scanned it again, I had to make the black spots, lines and eyeliner darker. For the eyes, I start with a light handed, light brown, then go over it with a golden yellow. After that, I went back over it with a regular yellow to give it a bit more pop. A filter for my scanner software brings out more color in the eyes and darkens all the lines. The original is much lighter than this. I took a lot more time and was patient as I could be for the fur lines.
There are still some parts that are not the same. The two sides of the mouth and the eyes are still slightly different sizes. Look close at the right eye and the right 'lip' - you'll see they're slightly larger. The neck is off as well - the two sides are different sizes. The left side looks larger.
The whole head is tilted 2 degrees. If I correct it, it's easier to see. However, if you take into effect of the 2 degree head tilt, the neck being off doesn't look terrible.
I hope that answered your question. I know I added a lot more than you asked for. Thank you for asking. I appreciate the feedback as well.
