The story at this point has an odd, narrative flow. We're missing a necessary bit of foreshadowing to justify what's been happening on pages 2 and 3.
From the setup, the "normal" reaction to Nick's comment on page 1 would be for Judy to ask what's wrong and press Nick to explain himself, not turn around and start charging back to Mrs Wilde to "fix" things.
We know that Judy has an impulsive streak and wants to help, but unless she saw something in the last panel of page 1 to make her very concerned (which should have been shown to the reader in some fashion), her actions here seems unwarranted and over-the-top, taking a dramatic situation and pushing it into melodrama.
