the clothes and the hair and the patterns in the armor, there is a lot of patience in this piece! and i love the blue flames is that like, a part of his body? or some magical aura? was this fun or toil? it looks like a lot of toil

The friends I have who work on Cintiqs swear by 'em. I can't get over the fact that my hand is in the way. It doesn't bother me when I'm painting on real media or drawing, so I can't claim to be reasonable on the subject. Probably a sign of encroaching curmudgeonly-ness. Dern kids.
Leaving the tail loose as you did keeps the piece from spilling over the top.

Fine detailing on the texture and shadow on his feathers, the sharpness of the design on the undercloak (and the folds of it) and skirt and the light glinting off the armored pieces. The look of his face fits really well, sort of a cross between intensity and "openess" (I can't describe it better than that). FUNNESS!!!!

This is seriously awesome. I LOVE seeing the DS file; the way you draw with it reminds me a lot of sculpting, and it seems to be very organic and avoid that stiff look of TOO MUCH CONTROL. The colors are wonderful. It's very helpful to see the process, so thank you!

Thank you <3 yeah I love to constantly brush and 'glaze' over things to bring out colors and lower contrast so that i can build it up again. Problem with such a 'messy' style is that it takes me forever to do stuff.

I'd like to try something like that, though, as you really DO bring out those colors and hues. It's wonderful :D

Gorgeous as always, dude -- the modeling on the spaulders and cuisses is especially slick <3 Very chunky/3D/metallic.
It's always impressive when you can get nice texture out of just digital paint, but when it's digital paint from Colors! that's just showing off <3

I'm totally actually getting some lasik eye surgery whenever I go back to asia because I'm like blind without glasses.
