I have just made this simple wrap-around thimble earlier today.
The sheet metal I used to make it was from a piece of pipe I cut down at the weld line and unfolded it.
I chiseled out the rough, blocky arms, forged them out to a bit of a taper, found out they were too long and trimmed them.
I used a center punch to make the dimples and used a small ball pein hammer as a set tool with another hammer over a block of wood while it was hot in order to make the bowl for the finger
