even then they are going to want evidence of black mail..... and that means the video.... so star will be exposed... they will both be destroyed.... and star cant afford to be compromised by both her friends and family.... unfortunately she is stuck.... and bluffing in this situation would make it worse all the evidence is right here... its like trying to play Russian roulette with a semi auto handgun...

There are a LOT of things to take into account when blackmailing someone. If the the person believes them self to be out of options they may very well attack the blackmailer. Also that the person you are blackmailing may understand that there are only two ways out. 1 to come out with what ever you are using to blackmail them. And 2 with the death of the blackmailer.
And star seams to be very stressed and already very emotional charged. So I think she may not be thinking clearly and most of the army personal I know usually go one way on the fight or flight response.

You know as an Army brat with both of my parents having served 20 years and 22 years (mom and dad respectively) I can attest to the "flight or fight" response being 98% fight when backed into a corner (or worse when one of them is having a flashback/ptsd moment from the shit they did in a war) So I can totally see Star snapping and taking Marellis out he's not expecting her to do that right now and he is too damn close to her to be able to put up a proper defense if she goes balistic and attacks without "reason" (Meaning she's on autopiolet)
Was thinking this too. An understanding CO would look right past the subject matter of the footage and start asking questions like, "Why is there deeply personal footage of one of your junior colleagues on a work computer? She claims you're attempting to extort her with it. What do you have to say for yourself?"

From the outside looking in it certainly is easy to see how much harder this will come crashing down on Marelis than Star, but from Star's perspective it isn't so cut and dry. This is a part of her that it seems she has held as shameful for a very long time, and only recently got to embrace it in a healthy and caring environment. Plenty of vanilla people don't get or are repulsed by AB/DLs, and even if it's for ignorant reasons, that doesn't mean a relationship is any less destroyed because of it. While Star is certainly overthinking how many of her friends and family will react, with what we have seen of her relationship with her Father, it is a very real possibility his reaction would be the worst case scenario for her. And Marelis is banking on this being her mindset to take advantage of her.

I don't think a user's going to a bad reputation for the playing the villain role. It's like acting in a movie. Many a stuntman actor who played the part of Jason Vorhee or Micheal Myers are cheery sociable sort of men in real life. That's the magic of acting, convincingly pretending to be someone you're not.
you'd be surprised how much hatemail and grief Kammy got for pushing gem over in Found LOL It's a large reason why the main protagnist Jack was not affiliated with anyone. BUt yes Stormy is actually a sweetie a very lovely person, so no one beat him up in real life or anything. He knows of teh full plot and whats to come so it's not like im doing any of this without his permission :)
I've honestly got zero hate over this outside of the comments, people are smart enough to know its a story and I let star portray him this way, the comments allow them to get out what they want to say without attacking me directly. I don't always read the comments either so I don't see them most of the time
I mean that's blackmailing, if Star is going down, she can bring Marellis down with her, and even if the cat is out of the bag (pun not intended) then it's her life to do what she wants, so all the hate would be easily directed towards Matt and just her non-abdl friends and family can just shrug that star is ABDL but that blackmailing backstabber matt... he going down!
It is absolutely abuse yup yup, but it is also a comic and I suupose it all depends on each specific reader how much realityvs fantasy theyre balancing on the comic. like i guess the whole powerplay/forced non consent can be fun in a fantasy setting whereas in reality its like the stuff of nightmares. Sorta similarly to like age regression/mental regression in comics could be fun but wiping someones personality and knowledge in reality is essentially dementia and thats horrific

I think it's fine in a fantasy setting, and I have absolutely no issue with people being into that as long as they're being safe. however, with the way this comic displays vanilla life and participating in fantasy as separate things (just as real life is for most people), it should be clear that what's happening here is not consensual or wanted, and I'm hoping that people can recognize the difference and apply that knowledge to their own lives. I don't care how much I might be into something - if the wrong person is interacting with me in a way that I don't consent to, I don't want it. but you understand that. I'm just worried about the people who think forcing their interests on others is okay. also, I'm deeply sorry to hear about your assault - I hope you've gotten the support you've needed to cope with that and heal from it the best you can. I see you just mentioned that Marellis might not get away with this - perhaps being able to write in some justice that you didn't see in your own life will help with those wounds. it seems that shine has already been helpful in processing your other traumas. best of luck.
Nods lots Yeah this comic is basically one big therapy session for me hahaha. BUt yeah I totally agree with you and I do have (perhaps a bit too optimstically) a lot of confidence that the folk who read this comic are clever enough to distinguish fantasy from reality :D
That's the whole weird thing about this that gives me bad vibes. It's a story, but even the mere idea of something like this happening makes me personally deeply uncomfortable. Even in this fictional context, there's no consent, no safe word, and worse it even goes further from a safe place with the inclusion of criminal extortion, and based on the last panel, our villain has worse things planned to take advantage of his junior work colleague. It's sadistic and cruel.
agreed. star (the artist, not the character - sam) has a way of illustrating some of the worst fears for ABDL and otherwise little individuals, but this scenario even goes outside our relatively small bubble of kink... sexual blackmail and abuse is a real thing that happens to even the most average of people. it's scary and sickening. but I'm much happier to feel sick over it than to not see it for what it is (non consensual, abusive) and feel nothing.
I find it interesting that as a fantasy i'm into forced/non-con stuff , yet this turn of events has me feeling a mixture of disgust and rage. But I think a lot of it comes down to how the story is presented/contextualized. If this is where Shine started I would probably be into is insofar as I would imagine myself in place of Star trying to navigate this humiliating experience. Whereas in this case we've mostly seen Star being able to express this side of herself in a safe and caring context, making what he is doing all the more despicable. Then there is the former-military side of me that is just screaming "Star you could do this, or this, or that, or this and he would be completely screwed! Don't get blinded by fear this guy isn't even that good at what he is trying to do!"
yep, it's all about context. like, star's other comic she's been posting recently under the title "not what he had in mind" - there's also big non consensual aspects to it, but the vibe is completely different. the situation here feels much more sinister because of the background we've been given like you said.

Only if the comic storyline wouldn't have been written at least till the next Chapter (let's say Chapter 1 is The Magic Cake - First meetup with Manda, Chapter 2 is The Weekend, Chapter 3 - Bryce's family, Chapter 4 - At the work...again and I kinda forgot some of the others)

She's got some initial shock and she's not good at asking for help in general. So a lot of options she has is not available to her or she hasn't realized them as options.

I here this recommended a lot as a way to do it but keep in mind how mentally frail that information is. Its like asking you to email all your diapers to everyone you know who doesn't know about your kink. Idk about other people but me personally. So theory time. It could be because he was in the more darker rooms of the party and saw star there that she would be into his version of the kink as well. He made a huge dick move not going for consent before making the first move but he could think this is all a game with no real intention of releasing the video at all. Most people like that dont realize that establishing control (which is easy to do with fear) is not the same thing as holding said control in the long run (for which fear doesnt really work).

Agreed even if he post the footage to ruin star. Most people beat surprised would just pass it off and move on either within a couple of day or weeks. Though I have a hard time seeing what her father would do. But Star has her one friend/roommate which I somehow see adoring that aspect of her. In anycase the moment she can get the evidence together to counter him, than both his working career & social lifes are over.
Actual the thing is right now she is shell shock at the whole thing and can not think, all she needs to do is just take the punch and plan for a counter punch, if he wants to attack her at work she can attack him at his kink. I place bets their is big no no with taking videos at that party and she has at least 4 people in her corner that was at the party, one that gave their phone number that I would say have first hand knowledge of the relation between Star and Marellis at the party.

I hope Star manages to get a hold of Amanda, Martin and Tessa and they give Marellis what he deserves. I hate bullies. I’ve been dealing with them almost my entire life.

Why does this dialogue no longer feel like a threat but a (not very wise) way of trying to reason with one of your employees that you need to be more punctual, and do better work?

Its one thing to witness a scenario from a distance with plenty of time to think, but its a whole another level when you are in the scenario itself with a severe time limit on responses. There is no way you could pull a lengthy response without a slip or stutter like that when fear and adrenaline kicks in. Maybe this statement would work in writing perhaps like an email.
Yeah, that's probably the limiting factor here. While I'm aware of that it's a big difference between "being" in this situation and being an outsider having all the time in the world to think about a response, I tend to think if a flat out calm and objective reaction might save you (because it's unexpected) that it's "if" you were able to put yourself into that mental state. I mean this obviously would be a bit different if threatened with physical violence but since the threat is only mental, I think it could be worth the risk "if" you were able to pull it off.
Seriously, though, he should be digging latrines in the Arctic with a messkit spoon for the rest of his career for pulling a stunt like this. As a commander, your subordinates need to be able to trust you. Blackmailing a junior officer is seriously fucked up.

I think that after Star has had a little time to distance herself from the shock, she may realize that all of his power hinges on whether or not the material is released. And, if he does release it, he runs the risk of being mutually discovered. That would be the least of his worries. His main concern--and I'm fairly certain he hasn't even realized this himself--is that he will be banned from the ABDL community at large, or at the very least he will become notorious. Clearly he enjoys things that are ABDL, and that he attends meetups/munches.
And if all of this is true about him... oh, I'm willing to bet he's shared a few pictures or videos of himself online, that there are records of his correspondences. He's in the same boat, I think, and really all he's doing is trying to punch a hole in the hull.

Sadly the only real way forward is to accept that the video will leak eventually, go to his superiors, and lay it out "look, I was videotaped in a compromising position at a party I was invited to. My commanding officer was there also. I can't prove that out of hand but I can speak to other people who were at the party, most will be too embarassed to come forward but enough will recognize him and be willing to back me up. He is using a video of me at this party in an embarassing position to black mail me for sexual favors which is equal to sexual assault because I cannot say no without him ruining my life. I am not going to comply to his advances and if this video finds it's way to my friends, family, or future employees I expect it to be investigated as a criminal act on his part as retribution for refusing to grant him sexual favors.

this is quite a pickle now... He can effectively make sure she never goes to another one of those gatherings again, all he has to do is use this to guarantee she'll be working any time one is happening. and even IF Star talks with Lure and Manda, and something can be done regarding his standing in said community regarding these actions... AT BEST it'll be a Pyrrhic victory, since he can STILL ruin Star's life as long as he has this footage. Especially with her Father being the way he is... She has more at stake to lose than he does at this point in time, so he really is holding all the cards.

you say he doesn't have much to lose but bear in mind even if you discovered someone's secret and saw them in that kind of compromised position what are you going to think about the person who violated their privacy and used that to extort them? Abraham Lincoln once said the best way to test someone's character is to give them power, so because he now has power over star he's showing his true self.
Somehow i don't think the 'shoot him' thing will come into play (as much as that bully pisses me off and wish to see karma dished out)....correct me if im wrong but despite having military training etc. Aren't most weapons stored in an armory on base under constant guard? I'm gathering Stars role in the military is in a admin/office type of role (so no arm and carry for staff that's what armed guards at the gates are for right?). I guess where im coming from is..because it isn't "war time" that people (or furs in this case) aren't constantly carrying guns on their person at all times.

You're not fucked up okay. Please dont feel that way. power dynamics and non consent and all these things in a fantasy setting can be a huge turn on. Ive had a lot of folk contact me mainly via PM saying exactly those things so please dont feel like you're wired wrong or anything. Its a fantasy setting, a comic with no consequences (although later down the line there may be consequences for teh bad guy) but yeah this sort of scenario is quite a turn on.
The keyword you used there, consent. That's what people are objecting to, that Star's being blackmailed (not only a felony in criminal courts but definitely a court-martial offense under the UCMJ and the British Army equivalent I'm sure) and definitely isn't consenting to any of it. A key factor to any kink play is mutual consent which is why safewords and hard limits exist to prevent any kind of trauma or actual abuse from occurring.

yes thats why safe words exist right so you can say no and protest and struggle and stuff without it actually meaning no until you use your safeword, but sometimes knowing theres a safeword...makes it less hot right? Non consent is a kink and its def one of mine, which is why im in such a weird place with this whole scenario. Because i lived through chunks of this scenario in real life and it seriously damaged me, but in a fantasy setting like this comic im also finding it quite fun/hot so if you're fucked up then...well... im like...triply so LOL
That's an interesting social dynamic you have here, people are attached to Star enough to really not want bad things to happen to her, but you think of her more as a fictional extension of yourself so kinky scenarios like this can feel more like a visual display of some of your kinks. It's a testament to your storytelling abilities though that people end up really wanting to punch out or arrest your antagonists and root for your protagonist. Consider that a compliment.

Dunno if there is a version of the UCMJ in the furry world, but if Star report, then Sarge could be tried for UCMJ Article 127, Extortion. The maximum sentence for that are dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and confinement for 3 years. For someone who had worked so hard to get to where he is, that would be a fate worse than a black eye and bloody nose.

Unless the intent is to RP a straight-up abusive relationship where the elder character talks down and demeans the younger one while they're stood with their back against the wall paralyzed with fear, silently praying the abuse doesn't become physical, I'm pretty sure this is the absolute worst way to go about recruiting one.

I can see that this can't end well for your character either. If you blow the whistle and destroy Star's reputation, even in just her own mind, those you exposed her too will probably look down on you for extorting her/digging up private information on her if they don't put it together you're involved in the same clique and the clique itself will probably bar you from events for the same extortion and recording things that happened there if the comments I've read about that being strictly against the rules are true. On the other hand if you don't and just keep holding it over her head and the stress starts getting to her and affecting her mood, especially if she blows of plans with Manda/the rest it won't be long until they figure out for themselves that something's wrong.

I agree with everything you said, but what makes it worse for me isn't as much using the video, but using the fetish itself as apart of it. Just using it to make her do what he wants is one thing (still horrible) but the baby talk? Threats of diapers and playpens? Thats what make it really stomach turning for me.

As crazy as things have gotten for Star I just wanted to say this after going back and binge re-reading Shine, just look back at page 152 of the comic. Our little Lynx is going to be OK. Cheeks may get red, boundaries well they have already been sprinted past, but she has people who love her who will back her.

Gotta be honest rn. This is one of the first times where things are heating up in a series from a Villain, but in a good way thats not giving me anxiety and makes me wanna read more. I love this feeling. Best suspense ever. Now I'm genuinely curious what's gonna happen next.

Honestly this pisses me off to no end.using someone like this is down right fucked up I know it's a comic but my little ones been in these situations and was forced to do many things I wish I could have stopped I'm sorry for the rant just I wish my bull was there to beat that asshole For them
