This one is a tribute anyone who was ever told they were insignificant, or not the right color, not the right gender, not the right PERSON to do what they wanted or make a difference in the world.
Growing up and seeking to become an artist, there were of course people telling me I could not accomplish my goals, but I think the biggest insult was being told that I could not make a difference in the world. I saw that the people saying this, often used it as an excuse not to even try.
In this piece, hunters have ensnared a forest god. The ultimate fulfillment for their greed. And while the capture of such a creature might seem unfortunate to the average person, no one has bothered to try to free him. No one except the little girl. It took the mind of a child, innocent and full of hope, to have the courage to set the god free.
When we relinquish that childish inner spirit, we lose so much potential for greatness. I wanted to paint a reminder that no matter who you are, you CAN make a difference. That even little things greatly impact the world around you. You need only remember that free little spirit within that made you so powerful when you were young, and use it.
