Well my Ford Taurus committed suicide (Blew the head gasket and warped top of engine). Weird since I was very good about servicing it at regular intervals. Then again it was 19 years old, and Fords aren't well-known for reliability. Plus it was driven for several road trips halfway across the country and used to haul scrap metal and mulch around.
Anyway i got this truck for $400 from a relative. It's a 1999 Chevrolet S10 Extended Cab. It has 186k on the odometer and is over 20 years old. Upside is it has a 6 cylinder GM engine, very little rust underneath, and was a state vehicle: meaning several upgraded parts including beefed up suspension. Inside it only has about 11 buttons, meaning very little to break.

My bro blew the head gasket on his Kia because he drove two hours with AC on while the engine was overheating, lol. I still cant believe my dad was willing to put a new engine in that car, but the mechanic offered to do it for $600. Still didn't prevent the car from dying again 2 years later though, lol.
True. It really depends on the car. Early Ford cars could run for almost ever but the newer modern ones not so much. My parents had an Aerostar van that was bad from almost day one. AC never worked right, constantly in shop for random stuff. Yet I see other Aerostar vans that are still running today.
