Worldbuilding Characters, Yudiath Muhtar
So I decided I need to expand my universe and have a personal canon world rather than try and squeeze into my S.O's universe. So here we begin, starting with Grandma Fluff! Inspired and based loosely off of real world Grandma Fluff in her loving memory.
"Yudiath Muhtar
Yudiath Muhtar is a furred Aurish dragon elder. She is 132 years old, in the twilight years of her life. Her once golden brown fur coat has been turning white around her muzzle and shoulders for years, much like an aged dog. Her fur has yet to thin however, and her mane while greyed from age is still full and curly.
Yudiath in her youth was a traveling herbalist, wood carver and photographer. Specializing in natural remedies for common ailments, she spent much of her time in the northern forests of Aurelia hunting for fungi, berries, herbal leaves and roots, while also cultivating her own garden for a combination of food and medical use. The trips afforded her plenty of opportunities to take amazing photographs and collect materials for crafting furniture such as chairs, bed frames, mirror frames, and hand rails for patio decks or stairs.
Towards the beginning of the prime of her life at about age 30, she met her current and only husband Grandis while selling her tinctures and small furniture at a fair. Her would-be husband had sprained an ankle while landing after a bout of sport-flying, flipped rolled and dislocated a wing. She was able to set his dislocated shoulder and provide some medicine to the young Aurish man, a handsome light brown/orange color with a dark brown mane and feathered wings. He was instantly smitten with her but it took many more return visits to the town before she'd accept a date. Their first night out they went in search of primrose and fireflies, but while finding neither, they were able to witness a shower of shooting stars. Subsequent dates shown her that this man she had met was quite the adventurous outdoors-man, and she grew fond of his company.
Over several years they would build their relationship with trips, telling stories, dinner dates and flirting over the phone until one summer evening as she was taking photos of the sunset over a lake and Grandis was supposed to be fishing, he surprised her with a tap on the shoulder, and knealt before her, asking if she'd be willing to be his wife, and holding out two traditionally carved silver earrings. She was stunned for only a moment before happily accepting, and in Aurish custom, peirced his lower left ear lobe with a ring, and he did hers. They married at the ripe young age of 34.
Yudiath and Grandis would go on to live deeply spiritual lives. As an herbalist by family heritage and training, Yudiath adopted the ancient tribal traditions of shaman and advisor, even if the ancient tribal system had long since been shelved politically in favor of democracy, it was still very much alive for the sake of tradition, therefore she was naturally attuned since a young age to be very much in touch with the spirit world. Grandis was not an herbalist, but rather was a young warrior, a son in a lineage of warriors, but polite, and even meek in heart when not on the field of battle. Grandis was always open to the possibility of the spirit world but it was Yudiath who convinced him to really study everything Aurish society knew and documented about it. In time, he gained an unofficial status as a scholar in addition to his rank as wing commander of his air brigade.
Grandis retired from his service at age 49, serving 16 years in the air cavalry. While never deployed to a battlefield, he was stationed as a peacekeeper on several occasions. Yudiath and Grandis had a son they named Joshua, and he was their pride and joy until he was killed in a freak thunderstorm, knocked from the sky by lightning on his way home from school and fell to his death. They never tried to have another child, and instead turned to adoption later in life to fulfill their need to parent.
Yudiath continued her business of herbal medicine into her 90's before retiring as well and the two moved to the Valley of the Sun in the far north of Merunia, the second largest continent on Aurelia. Here in a remote, forested mountain range still classified as frontier, snow lain for 6-7 months of the year, the Aurora could be seen some nights, summers were moderate, winters well below freezing, and neighbors few and far between. They built their cabin near the peak of a mountain and could watch the sun rise over the clouds which lay at the bottom of the valley, like a river of milk just out their front door. Yudiah still gardens for the purposes of self-sufficiency, and Grandis works maintenance on the home and scouts for firewood. Their home is open to most anyone in their local community for visiting and sharing of stories, laughs and good food, and the two live a satisfying, fulfilling life together. Around her 120th birthday, she and Grandis adopted Leviticus Despencer who was 16 years old at the time. His mother and her boyfriend had beaten and abused Leviticus before kicking him out after confiscating from him everything he owned, to sell for drinking money. Her and Grandis homeschooled Leviticus for the next 4 years before he left to make a life for himself, deciding for the short term to work in construction while setting his long term goals to be apart of a survey crew for the great frontier of Space. She keeps in touch with him via phone.

She wears gloves that are strips of cloth, reminiscent of sports bandages for wrist support. These same strips are present on her hind feet as well, and the strips do not cover the toes, dewclaws, or fingers of her hands and feet.
One of her favorite things to do is spoil her loved ones. Whenever Leviticus or his fiance or both come over, she'll make food and won't let them leave without eating. In particular, she's a master of Levi's favorite dish, chocolate chip pancakes with peanut butter cream, maple syrup with blueberries mixed in, and fresh avian eggs and homemade sausage on the side. Afterwards when her guests are in a food coma digesting their meal in the living room on cushions beside the fire, Yudiath will knit scarfs, blankets, gloves, footwraps, tailwraps, and wingwraps since she's able to check for a good fit with her loved ones right there. She enjoys reading out loud with her loved ones, telling stories, gardening, the hot tub, and rhubarb pie both the making, and eating, even if she is diabetic. "
