Bhumibol Adulyadej was born in 1927 and became the King of Thailand upon the death of his brother in 1946. He was the ninth member of the Chakri Dynasty to become King of Thailand, with the regnal name of Rama IX. At the time of his death in 2016, he was the longest-reigning head of state, and the longest-reigning monarch having reigned as an adult, being King for 70 years.
He was succeeded by his son King Vajiralongkorn, Rama X, after the prescribed Buddhist and royal rites for mourning, funeral, and accession of the new monarch.
He's depicted here at the time of his accession to the throne, and this is part of my Historical Furries series. What? Of course the King of Thailand would be depicted as a Siamese cat!
