Being American myself, I'm not offended
More scared than anything, just being called an American nowadays is considered an insult, I wish I lived where people don't say Americans are stupid

From what I've seen, the ignorant or extremes tend to be more vocal or unfiltered.
I've lived in 3 different countries (US, UK and Spain), and I've met naive and less-intelligent people in all 3. There are negative stereotypes about everyone.
Americans are greedy, brash, and stupid.
Brits are arrogant and cowardly
Spaniards are reallllly lazy. And I say that as part Spaniard.
Aussies? I guess from my experience, they're blunt and foul-mouthed. :D
I've heard positives about all as well. And to be clear, I love Australians. The accent is awesome.
