Woooo! 5,000 watchers! Played a 10 day trial of Star Trek Online. It was a lot of fun so I started working this up. Thought this would be a good excuse to finish it.

lol well its not entirely accurate, but a lot, quite alot of episodes of the first generation star trek, the guys in red are always dying, obviously the no-name characters that dont mean anything
and picard and them are invincible, so. there'd be no Q without picard either, hes essential :P

and indeed ur right, i forgot he slipped into the voyager series sometimes, i havent seen that in forever. the only ones i see repeating on tv, at all, are crappy Enterprise ones *vomit* and of course Next Gen on syfy, which is perfect. i dont see any others running, not even deep space nine
It's fun, just don't expect it to be anything like other MMO's. Space combat is kind of aggravating at first, but once you figure out what you're doing and it's a lot better. Hitting Lt. Commander when you can upgrade to a better ship is really point when the game gets interesting. Science officers are fun, but you have to like playing support. Tactical officers are probably the way to go for your first character since they focus on DPS.
Ok, good to know. But 'other MMO's' suck. They're all the same damned thing with different graphics. So if this is different that's awesome. I may have to find a way to give this one a try now... At least until Vindictus comes out XP. If I'm usually a fan of magic (which I realize isn't in this) what would you recommend me being?
Any of them really. There isn't much of a "magic" analog in STO. They all do somethings that magic users do.
Tactical Officers are your DPS output guys. They get abilities that allow you to increase the damage output of your phases or photon torpedoes along with some hand to hand and special maneuvers that increase you away teams damage output.
Engineering Officer. Some of the kits they get allow them to beam down turrets to shoot at bad guys when your in ground combat and specialize in improving shields and overall defenses on your ship and others.
Science Officers can have healing abilities as well as abilities that mess with subsystems on enemy ships and weaken their shields, weapons or engines. With ground abilities they get triage abilities and a lot of abilities that can stun or capitalize on enemies being stunned.

Those are some badass suits, and as always the coloring is great!
You know it seems to me you like to use both versions of your character, like the white one was replaced with the black one. And now we see the white one again, guessing you want each version to have their equal time in the spotlight.

*chuckles* Saw a guy playing this at our local cafe today. I was really confused, because it looked like a whole lot of PVP goin on xD. I've always been a PVE gamer myself...(Campaign modes, multiplayer. Fighting AI, not people.)
Neat pic ^^. Really nice job. Love the uniforms =D!

Would make a joke about whose not coming back but when next gen changed the colors between security and command the joke i think got left behind. Nothing against next gen and I watch it regularly but they debate way too much in comparison to the original series. What events did happen were usually exclusively on the enterprise. It's still a pretty good show but to me it lacks the more action paced charm the original had.
anyway more on topic: I did notice how Star Trek Online went with the original series badges. Surprised they actually listened to the fans for that little tidbit.

i'm an engineer :P me and a few friends in a fleet of ours from second life hit a rank per week, at captian and admiral rank they rape the hell out of you with skill points. but yes, i couldn't resist the cerberus, i also own a soveriegn (my fav) my pre-ordered TOS constitution class and a science vessel, oh and btw, you may want to have a science officer with tyken's rift...its EPIC
Yeah, It's pretty flexible. Not very many good hair styles for the guys sadly, but there's a variety of different uniforms to choose from, and pretty much everything on the body is adjustable so you can be incredibly blocky and short or tall and spindly with a giant head, whatever you want with your alien race. Even the basic races are customizable, there's like 20 different skin tones for every race, but it does limit you to normal skin tones for that race. Bolians can be 20 different shades of blue, but you can't make one that's pink. There's also a verity of different kits and armor that appear on your uniform if you want that make you look pretty spiffy.
