EOCostello pointed out to me in a recent chat that I hadn't razzed the Phillies for losing their opening game.
The excuse that there hadn't BEEN an opening game owing to the Red Death Plague being inadequate, he suggested a wisecrack about serving fermented mare's milk in Kazahsztan or some such.
I opted, instead, to steal from the classics, and so, here we are...

The previews always depended on whether the tape was sold through the studio distributor, or a distribution company. You could get an interesting mix of action, adventure, and comedy previews from six different studios, or a selection of unrelated subject previews that all came from the same director or studio.
The one that I keep thinking back to was a tape that I seem to recall having Vanya on 42nd Street and Three Ninjas Knuckle Up, and I can't recall what movie it is off the top of my head. Eh, we're all looking for something to do anyway...

Regardless, tape was Mixed Nuts. Took a bit longer than I thought it would to find them...
As an aside, both MiB and the TriStar release of Godzilla have a trailer for The Mask of Zorro, despite the respective movies coming out years apart.

Possibly an attempt to make a sale, as opposed to the current marketing model of monthly payments for limited access to the back catalog
Keep in mind that, at one point in time, Film Catalogs through which you could buy movies were a thing. Popular or unpopular, movies were there to be sold and watched...
Netflix and such have their opinion, and I have my somewhat stable collection. Some of it from tapes sold through two of the McDonalds Holiday Film Festivals.
Yes, McDonalds sold movies at one point, instead of having Redbox locations.
