I imagine it can be a little unnerving as one given one of Gaua's claws might be longer than Maru's arm so even if he's always very careful it's probably uncomfortable feeling yourself poked by one. Getting picked up by the collar like that would probably be humiliating as well though at least Gaua has avoided damaging the purple waistcoat.
Still on other occasions when getting lectured or dressed down by his commander I imagine Gaua feels just as nervous or uncomfortable, though probably they'd be a verbal dressing down after this stunt.
