Once more unto the breach with another  walt46-type piece.

Tonight's subject is Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, depicted as a stag. The males of the original House of Nassau were ursine (see Walt's piece on King William III and Queen Mary II), but while Henri and his late father, Grand Duke Jean (who abdicated in his favour in 2000), lay claim to the name of Nassau-Weilburg and the title of Duke of Nassau (inoperative since Nassau's annexation by Prussia at the end of the Austro-Prussian War), Jean had inherited the Grand Ducal throne from his mother, Charlotte- younger daughter of the last male-line Grand Duke, Guillaume IV (don't ask me what Charlotte herself or her older sister Grand Duchess Marie-Adélaïde would have been cos I haven't a bloody clue). Jean's father had been Prince Felice of Bourbon-Parma, member of a cadet branch of the Spanish House of Bourbon. Henri is thus a second cousin of Prince Carlos Javier de Borbón-Parma y Orange-Nassau, titular Duke of Parma.
