Holt5 drew up this rough sketch of Shamus a while back, and since I'm arranging some artwork of him now I thought it was time I posted the rough sketch of him. For those wondering, Shamus' patches (which are just dark here) are kind of a rusty brownish red. He was friends with Judy back when they were kids until they were split up by circumstances beyond their control, and events since then left him a very different buck from the one she used to know. This was due in large part to an injury which permanently damaged the nerves in his left leg and sank his dreams of becoming a professional martial artist and stunt athlete. In the end he was forced to pursue a career as a mechanic instead, though he remains an avid follower of many martial arts tournaments and specialists.

Visually speaking, I decided to have him be piebald in part to make him reminiscent of Quasimodo (by adding an appearance of asymmetry); seemingly off, but at the same time likable. An added advantage of this (at least in my mind's eye) is that having a blotch or other mark over one side of the face seems to amplify most if not all expressions, kind of like Shoto Todoroki from My Hero Academia or Prince Zuko from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Try it; picture him making any facial expression.
