Manojalpa requested a massive commission by me in which her character Zal guards a silver apple sapling from the terrible darkness that forces every light creating power to dim.I will insert a text quoting from the commissioner here soon which perfectly describes the scene and the happening.

This was one of the largest and most complex paintings I have done so far and I never thought I could finish it in such a short amount of time. I'm still thankful for the ones who really stayed 10 hours watching me stream. Haha. You're simply awesome. XD
All in all, including the sketch, I worked about 30 hours on the image. I tried out to not concentrate on small details so much but on lighting and colouring which will create the most important aspects of the painting in the end.
The original file is about 4500 x 5600 pixel on 300 dpi.
There is a better description coming very soon.
I must run out and do some mosaik simply for enjoyment. XD
Thanks a lot for looking!!

                    fertig? jetzt? endlich?

As with so many things, the world had come to its end.
The last battle was a quiet one, fought in no more land than a wolf might wander in a day. It was not fought by deities, it was not even fought by warriors, but by a single, vulnerable friend.
He had fought for her before. He had fought because the whisperings of good told him she would make a difference. Protect her, they deigned.
And though this was said to nearly a dozen, only Zal remained to fight for her. Where others had faded to the black or fallen with despair, only he had stayed at her side.
The world had come to its end. The Taer, its body emblazoned by the apathy of billions, fueled by ancient fears great and small and the nagging of death, decay, and destruction, descended towards the final light.
Zal's paws clutched the grit of earth; his tail swept the cliff's breadth. The world was ending, and his was the only body left to stop it.
He would be the one to die, so that when the world ended, she, at least, could survive.

Is it only that gods commune with one another and speak of their greatness? What of us mere mortals? The ones who can only watch in awe at the worlds gods create? What of us that strive for the excellence that seems so naturally gifted to these beings we deem too great to speak to? Do we get guidance? Do we get praise? I believe it not so, for we being mortals have only to watch and wish. Wish aimlessly for we to be gifted as strongly as these we praise, nay, WORSHIP. Wish for so much as a whisper from them, these gods. A whisper of encouragement. A whisper of hope. That one day, we too may join them, the gods, on their pedestals they've built with the brush and pen. But alas, it is a fools hope, for only gods commune with gods, or so it would seem.

Seems you and Kaji are pretty tight friends. This is what I speak of. And I mean every word.
You're an unbelievably talented artist. One of which I envy exceedingly and without bridled passion. I consider it a great honor and pleasure that you share your talent with us.
Just please... Don't forget us.. The people that praise you so dutifully and without restraint. I've attempted talking to many a great artists, (including the before mentioned) and it seems not only MY voice, but the voices of other 'mortals' fall short of the ears of their greatness.. My only plea is just that, don't get cocky. And I'm sorry for putting such a topic on such an amazingly beautiful and stunning piece of work.
That aside, this piece is brilliant. There isn't much more I can say that hasn't been said. Keep up the amazing ^^

Thanks a lot for the long and profound comment. I see every one who comments on my picture and who looks at it as a very welcomed guest but time sometimes doesn't allow me to even write tight friends immediately.
Some who comment quick sometimes have the luck to receive a message back from me immediately, others wait months or will never get a reply for small short comments but they definitely will get a reply one day from me on one another work I share.
But one is for sure, I read every single comment and therefore recognize and appeciate every single word.
I'm just as mortal as you are yet we both are immortal in the eyes of the ones who appreciate and love us.

all that time and effort and resources you mentioned you put into this, I'd feel like a complete ass to not fave it! (Mind you I faved it, then read.)
I'm pictureing you now like some young David Helfgott (From the movie 'Shine') having just finished his playing of the Rach 3 and is now twitching from exertion in some asylum.
Now if you really wanted to impress people, you should have said 'Eh, here's a little doodle I scratched out recently when I was bored and had a few minutes to kill'

Having watched this come to fruition over the weeks, I have to say it has surpassed every possible expectation I have had. Once again, as always Alec, you have raised the bar; bettering your art, creating works that are not simply technically impressive but emotionally riveting. Your use of light is stunning and captivating. Your depiction of the struggle, light and darkness; this ending of the world is absolutely breath taking.
The story portrayed in this piece, is simply breath taking. I love it so very much; the work that youve done with Zel and with the Taer... It is breath taking. The background, as always, really sets the scope and the tone of the piece, in its vast expanse; it feels almost above the world. The light shining down and illuminating the backdrop really makes this a stunning visage. You've really put so much work and care into this... and I can do nothing but applaud.
I hope to see your work continue to grow by leaps and bounds as it has here!

                    Finally able to comment on this one. ;__;
You know, I rarely use the word "epic" when talking about art, because usually it's blown out of proportion and it simply doesn't fit. But your art truly is epic. Not one single piece, but a whole bunch of them. This is only one example.
The collission of the forces leaves a strong visual impact even though the colour scheme is rather reduced. The power of bright and dark (not necessarily good and evil though) is captured beautifully and the way dark and bright areas are dividing the piece (as well as the title) hint towards the outcome of the scene, but so delicately, that it doesn't stop the mind from creating more vivid images in your head.
