The snow was getting into Richard's eyes as he made his way up the mountain. He was told that the thieves were last seen making their way up here. Under normal circumstances he would have flown up but the wind was strong and with these jagged rocks he thought the risk was too great so he walked.
The storm was getting stronger by the second and it was getting hard to see. He tried to shield his eyes from the snow but it was no use. He began to ponder if he should turn around cause at this rate he may well freeze to death until he saw something.
It was hard to make out but he saw a faint glow in the distance. He got closer and realised it was a fire. Sitting at the mouth of a cave were a couple of people trying to get warm along with their horse. There was a wagon too and Richard could see that it was filled with gold.
He had found them. The thieves that had stolen from a nobleman were in his sight. He pulled out his bow and fired an arrow at the cave. It landed right into the fire making the thieves look towards him. He made his way over with his sword out ready in case they attacked but they didn't.
"Thank God we're saved" said one of them shivering.
"Have you come to take us home?" The other said.
"No" Richard replied, "I'm afraid I'm here to take back what isn't yours and for you to be arrested"
"We're fine with that. I'd rather be in a cell than die in the cold" The thief stuttered with the other nodding in agreement.
Richard was taken a little aback. He had expected some resistance but he wasn't complaining and he could tell they were in need of help. "Very well. Get in the wagon and I'll help you get back."
The thieves nodded as they climbed into the wagon. Richard calmed the horse as he took its reins and led it back down the mountain. The storm thankfully began to calm as he made his way down and he eventually met up with the town's guard.
The thieves handed themselves over and the nobleman got his gold back. It was a fairly cut and dry job for Richard today but he wasn't complaining. Well except for the fact that he had snow in his boots.
