I imagine the shield is magical in nature and designed specifically to capture a victim and hold them like this, as indicated by the stylised head and feet as part of the shield's decoration. Poor Wishbone probably didn't even realise the danger and got himself caught though I suppose Kros thought he was an intruder and deserved to be punished. Hopefully that rather than deciding to take advantage of the helpless Wishbone's predicament, though from his expression it does seem that might be the case.
Kros does have some very nice feet himself as seen here, so I wonder if karma will lead to him getting them tickled at some point.
