Finally finished this thing, and I have to say- NO TAIL I'VE DONE HAS GIVEN ME THIS MUCH GRIEF. Oy gevalt, this kind of frustration I DON'T need. *chuckle* I took this thing apart no less than three times, then found that my pattern and cutting each side separately was the problem AFTER I'd given up on the borked pieces and re-cut... TWICE. Arrrgh. The tail-spade started out as the part that went with few hitches, and it was the bit I thought would give me the most trouble. Still, I was a moron and sewed the fershtuggener zipper in backwards- twice- note to anyone who does this stuff- never do it when yer tired. *head-desk*
Now, I'm not sure I'm happy with how the whole thing came out- I mean, sure, there's no more twisting (yay), the flame came out nicely (more yay), but I'd put the finished spade on backwards (yes, on purpose) so you could see it when it's curved over the end... but it's not curving up as much as I wanted. Argh. Sedrin, if you want me to flip the spade around, I can, but I'm gonna bitch a lot. *giggle* Heck, I might just take it apart again and flip it anyway- but I'll have to hand-sew, this time. Unstuffing that thing after all this trouble will give me the grey hairs I've been expecting this last ten years...

Egad- wire? Sounds uncomfy. I like the elastic loops you slip the belt through- I use two, so they can sit on either side of the central belt-loop on your pants. That way, the tail doesn't slide around while you're wearing it, and the elastic can be a bit narrower (from top to bottom) so the stretch helps hold things in place.
well the core of my tail is 1/4 thick wire so i can bend and shape it to a curve also holds it up and its LONG it sways to an fro like the real thing but the pad i had at the belt end has been lost so i need to find another bit of leather to sew over the wire and i need to UNbend a bit of it so it looks better
Now, stop that. Heh. I made the frakking pattern, after all. Nope, the issues was when I was using a fucked up copy of the good pattern, and cutting the sides separately' cuz I was running low on material and was trying to conserve... Well, that failed. Now, quit makin' fun of me! I'm a sensitive old lizard. *pokes you with a giggle*
*watches you gnaw on her with a raised eyebrow* The original pattern was fine, it was the copy that was borked, because I'd tried to lengthen it and it wasn't symmetrical. And I screw stuff up all the time- I mean, don't you? If you claim to never make mistakes, I'll call yer butt a liar. Heh. *chuckle*
And I call bullshit, and I'm not joking around here, anymore. Everyone makes mistakes, kid. EVERYONE, even on important things. I'm sorry, but you're starting to offend me. It annoys me enough to screw up on anything without having someone who probably couldn't do it themselves mocking me for it, even in friendly teasing. Quit it, ok? Sheesh. *growls*
Sedrin's idea entire. I like the concept a lot, actually. Now I want to hide little "stash" pockets on some tails so folks can squirrel away their ID if they go dancing at the raves so they don't have to worry about losing it. I'm just not going to put them in the spade, since that's Seddy's thing.
*Stares then starts to vibrate madly then bounce* SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I loves it! Wow it looks sooo epic! Soo shiny and cute! and the pocket is PERFECT! *Pants and hufs* Ok ok I am good i think i got it all....Squeeeeee ... nope one left he he *Blushes* I would vote for the tail spade to be flipped. Just so we aren't hiding my marking there. *BLushes* I will give ya 5 more to cover the headache. I cant wait till i can wear this *Evil Grins* Watch out Wally World!
Oooh! Got pix of that? *grins* I was thinking more of the places like the Wally Worlds back home where it seems like the worst people only shop there- the kind of dicks who bash you with their cart if you aren't moving out of their way fast enough, the kind of fools who nibble their way through the food aisles, litter, allow their unwashed spawn to run around the store, or uglier- smack them around in public, or who would happily take a baseball bat to your knees because you "look" gay or looked like a Goth. The kind of people who have it set in their tiny little minds what "normal" is (them, of course) and beat down with fists, boots or simply passive-aggressive insults what doesn't fit (anything they haven't seen before or don't understand). You know- cretins.
*Nods* Ahh yeah lucky not to have to many of those here. And i think she has a link toa vid in her journals.

And art critics don't scare me at all. If someone knows how to properly critique and can describe how I can improve- bring 'em on. I've probably heard a lot of the advice out there, anyway. I actually do work at improving my art, ya know. Heh.
