“You twist and turn like a…twisty-turny thing!” – Lord Melchett, Blackadder II
As lockdowns and stay-at-home orders have been enacted and enforced around the globe, I’ve noticed that with them has come a rather positive side effect. In the absence of the ability to go outside for prolonged periods, people are taking a much greater interest in making their homes not only habitable, but enjoyable spaces to live. Even in my little village, these two months have seen people taking great care of their gardens, touching up the outside of their houses, and generally putting in commendable effort towards creativity and construction.
As my little babies have grown taller, I’ve noticed that they naturally turn towards the sun coming in through the window, as one might expect them to. However, if allowed to face the same direction for too long, I’ve found that they come to support themselves on the glass, so I try to turn their pots allowing them to grow in a relatively upward fashion. It seems as though my doing this has led to their growth being distinctly non-linear, but I’m alright with that! They seem healthy enough, and pressing their leaves between my fingers still gives off the same delightful herbal smell.
Stay safe, everyone, and think about how you can be creative and constructive today. Hope you enjoy!
