Asking to roleplay with somebody is like asking them out on a date. You don't just blurt that out if you expect to get anywhere. It just makes you come off as desperate. Not a good look, ever. Sure, there are some who might take you up on it, but most will rightly turn you down, politely or otherwise.

As someone who has roleplayed with the monk here, first you need to get to know them a little. Then bring it up after you've talked with them a few times. And learning how to push their buttons certainly doesn't hurt either.
