Kutesa was a lioness that lived in the Pridelands during the reign of King Mohatu. She was a very feisty huntress who believed that lions were superior to other animals as they were on top of the food chain. She also had eyes for King Mohatu, but it was nothing more than the occasional flirt. While she was hard to get along with, she wasn't exactly a threat to the pride, either.
But that all changed one fateful day when she encountered a cobra during a hunt.
Kutesa receives a bite across her left eye from the snake. And while she recovers physically from the bite, she doesn't mentally. The venom from the bite did far more damage to her mind than previously thought, as Kutesa becomes far more aggressive than before and starts having ideas of grandeur, and begins to believe that SHE should be Mohatu's queen instead of his mate Furaha. She hadn't even given him any cubs yet, for goodness sakes!
Kutesa challenges Mohatu and Furaha, proclaiming that she should be his mate and the one to bear his cubs. She tries to kill Furaha, but her attempt is unsuccessful and Mohatu deems Kutesa a threat and has her exiled from the Pridelands. But that doesn't stop her plans to seize the throne. If she can't be a ruler, then maybe a lion in her lineage will. Kutesa gets herself pregnant from a rogue and has two sons, raising one of them to someday usurp the Pridelands throne for himself. After the elderly Kutesa dies in her sleep, her son Hatari tries to corrupt one of Mohatu's grandchildren to aid him in taking the throne. And while his attempt to take the throne ultimately results in his own death, he ends up leaving behind two daughters, one of whom later tries to dispose of Mohatu's great-grandson, King Simba.
However, it's also one of Kutesa's descendants who finds a less violent way onto the throne.
EDIT: changed her name from Shetani to Kutesa.
Decided to design a mom for the Strange Lion! If you thought Zira was nasty...she still is. But this lady comes pretty close.
Anyway, Kutesa's design is based off of a weird miscolor of Zira seen in an old TLK2 storybook. (Images here: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb.....67-409-585.jpg http://www.lionking.org/~kiara/imag.....nbook/pic6.jpg http://www.lionking.org/sequels/TLK.....utlanders1.jpg ) Even though the colors are all wrong, I do like them, but just not on Zira, so I decided to use them for a lion in her family tree.
