Test Sketch: Repurposed Warhorse
The Warhorse: Retired offensive unit
Repurposed, new designation 50|\|g
-- Search, rescue, and emergency response
-- Heavily armored (though some has been stripped and repurposed)
-- Made for defense through heavy combat
-- Shield can be used as emergency offense if needed
-- 2x as tall as standard mechs, about 4x as tall as Jackrabbit
-- Heavily armored legs to cross (almost) any terrain to reach stranded or endangered pilots
-- Crystal receptors tucked behind "ears"
-- Arms are the weak points, but it can still complete a mission with only one
So, apparently support mechs are my thing?
I kind of want to make an offensive/defensive or fast/slow offensive pairing next.
Cheetah/dog (doesn't roll off the tongue, but it works in zoos)
Elephant/bird
Bear/Stag
??? I dunno xD This isn't really my forte, but I'm enjoying it.

Hmmm... Needs something.....
*paints nose black and gives it black stripes*
Much better!! *snickers*
Seriously, though. An armored "heavy" mech repurposed to rescue and recovery is brilliant! Great design!
some suggestions for the offensive model you're planning?
For a ground based fast attack, I would go with a digitigrade leg style as they seem to work better for sprinting and springing.
I was always a fan of the old "drider" style mechs myself, with multiple insect like legs on a lower body and a humanoid torso. :)

Actually, I was thinking of trying to make a "Redline" model, but I haven't figured out the logistics yet. I'm wondering if I can design something where the arms and legs are kind of in the style of stackable cups where it can either be short and stocky or tall and lanky based on what is needed?
Ah, the digitigrade leg makes sense!
I thought about a huntsman spider, but TBH that many legs terrifies me. I'm not proficient enough at the joints yet to be really comfortable jumping in on that. xD Maybe later.
