Opossum, Opossum, Opossum, and Opossum, 15 May 2020
Yeah OK so now it's a conspiracy. Today's New Adventures of Queen Victoria --- https://www.gocomics.com/thenewadve.....ria/2020/05/15 --- is the third Pogo reference in the comics I read this week. (It's referring to the three bats, named Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered/Bemildred, who only know who's who by checking which one's pants they put on that day.)
Anyway, today's panel is from a 1957 storyline, after Pogo and Mouse had gotten back from Australia, when Pogo's sister showed up. She had a bunch of children who also moved in to Pogo's place with her. There were five young opossums in the strip. I cut the kids down to three because Walt Kelly used a wide panel than I did here. He mentioned in Ten Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Years With Pogo that his inspiration was eight dwindling opossums, that he cut down because after five they're so small they don't photograph anymore.
