
This sunset was really beautiful in person. I should of invested in some split filters, I couldn't get the cliff and the sky to exposure correctly. So, some massive editing work later, I came out with this.

I love how even in the altitude of the mountains there are two distinct lines where the forestry just changes completely north to south.
You've got the north-New England and Canadian range where it's dominated by spruce and tundra trees. Then where I live down to about southwestern-most Virginia is generally oaky with some spruce and northern pine mixed in. Then south of that you get these endless southern pine woods like here.
A little detail I always appreciate about nature. Trees! Yes, I am boring. haha

What you're seeing here is Scrub pine that grows in intensely rocky soil. However, this is all mostly deciduous hardwood forest. You get pine on the outskirts of forest, usually white pine, but that's from logging. It;s actually interesting how forests regrow from those stages. You get scrub, briers vines etc. Then you get your soft woods like pine popular, then you begin seeing hardwoods grow in. Really cool stuff!
