It is worth noting that this practice of applying war paint to their bodies varied among the Fjallúlfar tribes with some fully decorating their bodies while others didn't. In some tribes, Fjallúlfar who had dishonored themselves and their tribe would paint their entire bodies black and strip themselves of all clothing and armor to seek out a glorious death on the battlefield.
