I've been quiet lately... this is the reason why.
Quite possibly going to be my most involved and detailed picture to date.
The actual dimensions of the picture are 4000x3100, I resized it a bit to show the detail work going into the picture and tried not to keep it so large as to destroy your browser when trying to load it.
Finished Night, current rough background (and I can't stress 'rough' any more than I possibly can) and now I'm onto inking Grey.
Pointers, comments, questions, suggestions, please feel free!

I'm really going to try my hardest on this picture. I've always been talking about stepping up the game, becoming better and finding my niche. I know my strength is my line-art, and I've felt commissions that simply ask for basics isn't going to help push me to do better... which is why I might sometimes bargain with people. "I just want clothes." "Does it matter what kind?" "What do you mean?" "Mind if I throw in some stylistic flare? Or perhaps add a futuristic touch?" "... no, just simple clothes will do." "... ;_;..."
Mind you I don't care if I'm doing simplistic things, I just feel that my strength in line-art could be emphasized. When I'm told "I want armor. Blah blah is the general look I want. Now go nuts." I squeaaaal because that means that not only am I restricted, but I'm allowed to delve further and further into detail.
I see an object, then I see details to an object, then I see details to the details. Then I add things, then I add details to the added things, then details to those details to the details that were added on. Essentially my thought process behind detail is "Think small." and I ask myself "What texture does this have? Does it require more detail to bring it out?" If I've answered yes, I add more. If I've answered no, I find a reason to put in more regardless.
When I'm allowed freedom, that's where I think I thrive. Which is why I'm going to be ecstatic when I finally get down to drawing for myself again.
But I digress, thank you :D

*Hyper-ventilates* >____<..................o___= Bastard...I love this so much xD
So far I'm astonished, The amount of detail within the plate armouring...it's actually just collapsed my left lung. This is such a massive leap from your previous work. I hope the finished (and hopefully coloured) version will live up to expectations ;D

:laughs: Thank you! ^^; And I do hope so, too.
Though I have confidence that it will live up to expectations, considering now I'm going through this picture with a new-found and refreshed mindset. I've been so concerned with so many little imperfections in my work, that I've found solutions to most of them. One such was trying to find a way to strengthen my line-art, to which I personally believe is one of my main strengths. I've figured out that in order to get more detail, I just think small. As I've mentioned above, think of an object, think of it's texture, add detail, add detail to the detail, and keep going until it's almost impossible to add anything else without taking away from the object.
It makes sense in theory. If you keep adding too much detail, you take away from the object to the point where it's not recognizable. I'm trying to find that ground, that line that says "Okay, this is far enough. Any further and you'll trip over the edge."
I would usually focus my art in the ink, then when I progressed into the coloring phase, I loosened up. I didn't devote as much attention to it as I should have before. Or rather, not enough to 'push' my technique to a new limit.
Again, I do hope that my new mindset will push this to be a spectacular finish.
