So, while I was out I kind of bought a bird...
We went to a bird show and I found a bucket of squirmy pinkish Green Cheek Conure babies at one of the vender tables. I went "AWWW!!! DIS CAN I HAZ ONE?!" And he said yes and I bought one! They just barely had their pinfeathers but I have hand raised many birds before and felt confident I could do it.
So, I named him Izzy, got a knockout deal for 70$ for him. I think its a he because he is extremely vocal and although its impossible to sex them by sight the books and breeders say males tend to be more chatty. He is 6-7 weeks and has a stubby little tail still, he can almost say "BABY BIRD!!!" and is very good at potty training. He also licks everything, its adorable.

Awww! Adorable! An ex-friend of mine used to have a conure (had to give it away after she wouldn't take care of it) They are such wonderful little lovable birds, though :3 Yours is such a lovely shade of green ^.^... I didn't know those could learn actual words though (Pet store said they could only mimic simple sounds) How wide can their vocabulary actually get, do you know?
Well they don't talk really well, its pretty gravely sounding and not much like a human. Ive heard anywhere from never learning to talk all the way to a few hundred words for the smarter animals. All birds are different, my parrotlet never learned to say a word. I think it has a lot to do with how often you repeat words to them and how much time you spend with them as well as how young they are when you start, I got Izzy before he really had feathers where I think the parrotlet was a few years by the time I got her. I bought her from a petco and they are notorious for selling birds that are a vastly different age than advertised.
Izzy can say "baby bird" really well but it also learning "Izzy bird" "kisses" and "I love you" he can also mimic this clicking sound I make when I cuddle him in a jacket. Every time I walk into the room I say one of those phrases and pick him up and play for a couple of min.
Here is a video I found on youtube, the bird in the video is saying "Good Morning" over and over again. It isnt my Izzy but its pretty cute.
