Interesting, I think that a nice addition could be a more harmonic interpretation of the bass ostinato, as you know each note outlines a chord and it was "proper" for players to improvise over this, making the usually boring repeated bass part quite interesting! (by bass part I mean the lowest "voice" sorry, I use contrapuntal definitions to talk about things)
