So here's the first chapter of Bleak Streets. It's a pulp noir-esque story set in a rough approximation of the Twokinds Forum (http://twokinds.net/forum/index.php). It was originally posted there (and continues to be so). I can't say as though the story will necessarily be entertaining to people who aren't familiar with the forum and the forumites, but I'm going to post it up anyway. :P Hopefully the rest of you will find something you like about it. For what it's worth, you really don't need to read the comic to "get" much of this: excellent as the comic is, this story is about the characters inhabiting the forum, not the comic.
The story deals with the forum as kind of a hybrid of what it is, and what it would be like if it were a grungy, crime-ridden city. That means some of it might read a little funny, please feel free to ask questions in the comments if you need clarification, and I'll do my best. Noir-related terms can be looked up in the excellent Glossary of Hardboiled Slang (http://www.miskatonic.org/slang.html). The story is dedicated to my friends on the forum and everyone who wishes Calvin and Hobbes was the side story for Tracer Bullet.

How you decided to post this -- and not your slasfic -- on FA... confounding, I tell ya :p
For anyone playing along at home, Bleak Streets is actually up to chapter 20 on the forums now, is excellent fun, and is actually surprisingly coherent even if you don't know the people involved. The language is an absolute joy.
