In the midst of a mid-day nap inside her comfortable shed, Jenna began to stir at a loud crashing sound. It sounded like it was coming from her house. She groggily got up and made her way out of the shed and to the house, entering through dog door.
"Is Rosy back from school early?" Jenna wondered aloud. She made her way through the house, not seeing any sign of her girl. As she went up the stairs to Rosy's room, she suddenly heard a loud rustling coming from Rosy's parents' bedroom. The husky suddenly got a feeling of dread in the pit of her stomach, but nudged the door open and looked in the room.
And was caught off guard when she saw two strange men inside. They were going through the cabinets and stuffing her owner's jewelry into a briefcase. She saw their window had been busted open, explaining the crashing sound.
They were being robbed.
Jenna barely had any time to take further action before one of the two men noticed her standing in the open doorway. His partner noticed and turned to her as well.
"Hey, looks like we alerted the family dog," the taller man chuckled. "Alright, get back, girl, we've got work to do." He approached the door and began to nudge Jenna away with his foot. Jenna resisted the urge to growl and backed away down the stairs, hoping to get away and alert someone of these intruders.
As she reached the bottom of the stairs, the red husky began sprinting to the front door. However, just before she reached it, she felt herself being tackled to the ground. She yelped in shock as she looked up at her attacker, finding it to be the other, shorter man. He lifted her up and began carrying her back upstairs, as Jenna tried and failed to squirm free, slash, and bite at him. No! They must have known I'd rat them out! Little did she know, however, that this man had far more sinister motives.
As the two reentered the bedroom and the man shut the door, the taller man looked at his partner in surprise. "Whoa, whoa, what are you doing, Hank?!"
"Hear me out, Jim," Hank said, all the while trying to keep the squirming husky in his grasp. "We came here to make a quick buck. All these jewels and valuables are great and all, but how much do you think the dog's worth? If we took her and held her ransom, I bet her owners would do anything to get their precious doggie back."
Jenna's eyes widened in shock. Surely this man, Hank, couldn't be serious. Holding a family pet for ransom?! It was sick!
"Huh. You know, that's a good idea," Jim replied. "They pay us, and we return her unharmed. We'll have enough money to last us months!"
At that, Jenna wriggled and bucked even more ferociously, her newfound terror giving her the strength to finally break out of the man's hold. As she collapsed on the floor, she frantically tried to search for any way out. The door had been closed, so she immediately bolted for the window. Unfortunately, she was pinned down to the floor by Hank, who kneeled on her to keep her subdued.
"Quick, get the rope so we can tie her up!" Hank shouted, which caused Jenna to fight even more desperately to escape. Jim soon came into her sight and knelt down at her, several strong-looking ropes in his hands. Desperate, she cried out, "Help me! Someone please, HELP ME!! HELP!!!" All the two men heard was loud barking, but that still wasn't good for them.
"Hold on, someone's gonna hear her," Jim groaned. Jenna just kept screaming, "HELP!!! I'M BEING KIDNAPPED! PLEASE, ANY-wmmgph!!" Her cries were cut off as Hank firmly grasped her muzzle shut in his hand. She tried to shake it off but he held firm. Jim then took a rope and, despite the husky's resistance, was able to tie it tightly around her muzzle. He looped it around several times in a thick bundle before knotting it and pulling as tightly as possible. "MMM!" Jenna shrieked in pain as it was pulled and tied off. It hurt and stung the sides of Jenna's mouth, digging into her muzzle. She whimpered and shook her head, trying to get it off.
"That oughta shut you up," Jim said with a laugh. It also made it much easier for Hank to hold her down now that she couldn't bite.
"HRRMMM!! HMMMMPH!!!" As Jenna continued to try and scream for help through the new rope muzzle, Jim approached her with more rope and grabbed her flailing forelegs. Despite her kicks from her back legs, he wrapped a neat, intricate series of knots around her forelegs, with the rope going almost up to her biceps. Her hind legs were given the same treatment, with rope wrapping them from her thighs to her hocks and feet. Soon the last knot was securely tied, forcing her legs together in two sore, uncomfortably tight sets of rope.
"Heh, she doesn't seem to like you," Hank said with a laugh.
"I'll live with it," Jim replied. "Come on, let's finish up and get out of here." The two spent the next several minutes gathering up the rest of the riches they could find, all the while Jenna violently struggled against her bonds, trying and failing to get free. Once they were ready to go, Hank then picked up and carried a thrashing Jenna out of the house and around the back, where a run-down looking automobile was parked. Jenna let out muffled growls and screams, trying desperately to bark for help, but it was rendered useless with her bound muzzle.
The robber holding her carelessly threw her into the back of the car, clearly not caring about her being hurt. "Rrnnn!" As if the painfully tight ropes weren't evidence enough of that. She kept barking frantically through her muzzle and trying to wrench her legs free of the ropes. Even after the car door slammed shut, Jenna never gave up her fight to escape.
Unbeknownst to Jenna, however, she had one last hope. Her mate, Balto, had been making his way over to her place for a visit just as she was being abducted. As he got within earshot of the house, his sensitive hearing just barely managed to pick up what sounded like strange, muffled cries of his mate coming from her house.
The swift wolfdog ran to the source, but when he finally arrived, he gasped in terror at what he saw. He was horrified to see a whining, squirming, tied up and muzzled Jenna being thrown into the back of a car by two men, just barely getting a solid glimpse before the men slammed the car door shut.
"NO!!" Balto screamed. "LEAVE HER ALONE!!" He sprinted at the two men, the normally cool and soft-spoken wolfdog desperate to save his mate. The men turned and gasped at the sight of the charging canine, and in his fury Balto could make out a garbled "Bmntm!" coming from Jenna, calling out for him.
The two men immediately got in the front and passenger seats of the car. Balto was able to leap onto the car as it backed up, but it then spun around so fast that Balto was tossed right off. The car then sped off before he could get back to it.
"Help! Someone's taking Jenna!" ANYONE! HELP!!" He kept barking his head off and howling trying to get someone's attention, but no one was in sight or hearing range. He couldn't lose the car. He had to move, on his own, and so Balto immediately took action and gave chase.
Balto hadn't run this fast since the serum run, but his drive to save Jenna gave him the same level of strength and endurance that had saved him then. His legs propelled him forward as he chased the car. These two thugs seemed to know what they were doing, as they were speeding through the back roads and less populated areas of Nome to avoid attracting attention. Add on top the fact that most people were either in school or at work, and Balto seemed to be on his own. So he kept on going, pursuing the brutes who would dare take and hurt the love of his life.
Unfortunately, the car was just too fast, even for the fastest canine in town. After about a minute, he lost it. The hybrid acted quickly, scanning the area for a better vantage point. He saw a stack of crates that formed a sort of uneven staircase to the roof of a nearby building. Using the parkour techniques he'd mastered in his youth, he climbed up to the top and dashed across the rooftops, hoping to find the car.
In the back of the car, alone in darkness, Jenna still was still struggling in her wretched bindings, and whimpering helplessly. Somehow, the more she stretched and wriggled her legs around, the tighter the ropes seemed to get. She was constantly wincing at the ache they caused, which in turn dug the rope muzzle further into her face. As the vehicle jostled her around and knocked her into the sides, the bound husky let out a moan of fear into her gag, panting through her nose. She was terrified, but absolutely refused to give up her fight. There had to be something she could do to get free and stop these horrid people from hurting her family. Her best chance was that Balto, by some miracle, had managed to spot her. That alone gave her substantially more hope. He had always been there for her, and she had faith that if she couldn't save herself, her loyal mate and best friend would come through again.
And indeed, Balto was still on the chase for her. He had scanned the town from on the rooftops only to come up short. Eventually, though, the faint sound of a roaring engine caught his ears, and he ran to soon find the car speeding out of town. While he couldn't keep up with it on foot, the wolfdog could follow the tire tracks to the vehicle's destination. It wasn't like that many cars came in or out of Nome that way.
Sure enough, his idea worked. He had followed the tracks for miles, dashing through the near-empty outskirts of town and through the more untouched parts of Nome. Eventually, he found the car parked behind an old-looking log house. Balto cautiously looked around for the two men, and when he deemed the coast clear he carefully but anxiously made his way to the car. However, when he looked in through the window, Jenna was not there. The wolfdog furrowed his brow, before turning his eyes to the house. To his surprise, he noticed that one of the back windows was missing its glass, leaving a way for him to get inside. They probably figured that no one had followed them out here and therefore they didn't need to worry about it. Well, bet you didn't count on me, Balto thought bitterly.
The wolfdog once again exercised caution as he silently jumped in through the window and entered the house. It appeared rather run down, with crumbling wall panels and almost no furniture in sight. He crept around looking for the tied up husky.
It didn't take him long to find her lying in the corner of the house's kitchen. She was still struggling against her bonds and appeared to have been roughed up a bit. The thought of anyone mistreating her so made the wolfdog's fur bristle. But he calmed himself as he snuck over to her.
"Psst! Jenna!" Balto whispered. Jenna shot her head up, only to break out into a grin beneath the ropes and grunting happily into her muzzle. "Shhh shhh!" Balto pleaded. Jenna nodded and remained silent.
"Alright, Jenna, just hold on a second," Balto mumbled as he prepared to chew through the ropes.
But as he leaned his head down, Jenna suddenly started shouting, "Bnmtm! Bmhnnd ymm!!"
"Jenna, please, just keep it- AHH!" Balto realized too late what Jenna was trying to say. Before he had time to react, he felt himself lifted off the ground and carried away to the other side of the kitchen by Hank. Jenna was yelling out at them in terror. "Nnm! Lmhvm hnm nlhnm! Bhmtm!" Balto struggled and lashed out, but while he was clearly making things difficult for the man he couldn't get out of his hold.
Just then Jim entered the room, and froze at the sight before him. "Is that the dog we saw at the husky's house? Jeez, how'd he find us?"
"No idea, but it doesn't matter. He's clearly too smart for his own good," Hank responded. "I'll hold him down, you tie him up." Upon hearing this, Balto squirmed even more ferociously as he was tossed and pinned to the floor. Jim pulled out more pieces of rope as Hank struggled to contain the wolfdog. "Hold still, you little snooper!" Hank snarled as he resorted to sitting down on top of him and firmly grabbed hold of his jaws.
Despite Balto's best efforts, Jim had managed to get the strong rope wrapped tightly and securely around Balto's muzzle, gagging him in the exact same way that Jenna had been silenced. Just like with her, more rope than probably necessary was used to create the cruel rope muzzle that now stifled Balto's cries. "NNMM!! LRGNN MM NNN!!! GNNT MMRMMPHMHMM!!!" Soon the work was done on his new stifling gag, and Jim moved on to the wolfdog's legs.
Once again, Jim's ropework was identical to that on Jenna's limbs. The thick amount of ropes were wrapped around the majority of Balto's legs, covering them up effectively. Balto squirmed and howled inaudibly as each knot was pulled tight. Just like the ropes on his muzzle, they were tied off so tightly that they seemed to dig into his skin. No, this can't happen. Please, don't let this happen! I was so close to getting her out of this! Balto thought in despair, completely concerned for his mate's safety above his own. She looked just as frightened for him, still trying desperately to get out of her ropes. He kept fighting hard, but once his muzzle was tied up there wasn't much he could do. Balto winced as the ropes were looped and knotted around his legs, and couldn't help but let out a sharp, muffled gasp of pain as the last of it was tightened around his lower thighs, gripping them harshly and sending a sting through them.
"There you go!" Jim grunted as he tied the last piece of rope securely. "That oughta hold you!"
Hank observed the bound, gagged, fighting canine. After a few moments, his eyes lit up in recognition. "Hey, wait a second," he murmured. "Hey Jim, this is that famous wolfdog! You know, the one that saved those kids."
Jim took a second to study his captive before he too recognized him. "Well what do you know, it is! Heh, what business does this mutt have trying to stop us? Probably thinks he can be the hero again. Hey, you know what? Since he's so famous and all, I think he'd be worth even more money than the husky!"
"You think so?" Hank asked. "He's still just a half-wolf mutt." The statement caused Balto to glare daggers at the man and snarled lowly. "I mean, do you even know if he has an owner?"
"Doesn't matter. I know plenty of parents feel they owe everything to this guy. If we make it public, someone'll pay as much as we demand. I mean, it's not like we can just let him go right now, right?"
"Yeah, I guess you've got a point."
"Good. Now c'mon, let's stash these two somewhere secure."
Balto glared at him and let out a low, muffled growl as Hank picked him up while Jim took Jenna. He tried wriggling out of his bonds and made cries for help through the muzzle, as if anyone would be around to hear them. But it was without success, for the ropes around him were tied too tightly.
"Stop squirming, you filthy mutt!" Hank growled as Balto continued wriggling with his viciously tight binds. The female husky followed suit, screaming at their captors through her gag.
"Mmmnnph! Gnnhmmnn!"
"Hmmph nrrrgh mmmm!"
"Ugh, I'll be glad to get these two out of my hair," Hank grumbled.
The two took the tied up canines downstairs to a basement. The room appeared completely deserted and unused, with only a few items and crates scattered about here and there. Whoever used to live here must have left long ago.
Balto watched as Jim just dropped Jenna onto the cold, hard floor, causing her to moan loudly in pain. The wolfdog was enraged by her mistreatment and did everything in his power to try and claw at Hank. But he was then dropped similarly, grunting out loud as he hit the floor.
"Alright, you two. Stay!" Hank said mockingly. In that moment, Balto and Jenna felt completely helpless, but they shot glares at the humans before the two captors went back up the stairs and shut the basement door. The two canines heard a lock click, and were left in near darkness.
Balto and Jenna cried out to each other in stifled moans. The young couple squirmed over to each other to embrace as best they could, draping their bound forelegs over each others' backs. "Rrr ymm mgmy?" The two asked if the other was okay at the same time. They couldn't make out what the other said, but deduced it from another time where they had done that.
They separated from each other and began straining against their bonds. Jenna's drive was renewed now that Balto was in danger as well, and Balto was just now getting a chance to really struggle. Groaning through his tightly bound jaws, he began squirming his forelegs in the ropes, shifting them back and forth and trying to wrench his legs apart. When it appeared they weren't loosening, he tried the ropes around his hind legs, similarly shifting them about. Balto lightly gasped as he strained, sucking in as much air as he could through his nose. He rolled onto his back, tugging his legs and head in every direction, frantically hoping that at least something would give.
The wolfdog then realized that freeing his mouth was the most important. So he brought his paws to his face and clawed at the rope, twisting his nose and jaws around to get some leeway. It didn’t help. The ropes were just too strong even for his sharper claws, in fact it wouldn't surprise Balto if they were pieces of sled harness. He let out a muffled moan of fear and frustration, trying to keep calm.
The two canines' legs had gotten sore and chaffed, squeezed together in a merciless hold. The rope clamped around their jaws was making it difficult to for them to breathe, digging into on the bridges of their noses, and in all likelihood would probably leave marks on them for who knows how long. But the worst part of it for both of them was that for all the pain and discomfort they were feeling, they knew that the other was feeling the exact same thing. Balto soon took a minute to relax, but watched as Jenna kept struggling. He deeply admired her for how determined and resilient she was, one of the many things he loved about her, but it was very obvious from her stifled moans and wincing that she was in a lot of pain.
They had to get out of here.
Eventually Jenna settled down, and met her mate's concerned gaze. "Mm mrrght," she tried to keep a brave face and tell him she was alright, but in truth she was in great distress, both emotionally and physically. "Hmm?" Balto asked tilting his head. Jenna just shook her head, knowing that trying to talk to each other was pointless with their mouths sealed up.
Dearly wanting some form of comfort, Jenna simply wriggled over to him until they were laying side by side. Balto nuzzled her face tenderly in return. "Hmm hmrm. Mmf ghnnm mm hgnn," the wolfdog tried to whisper comforting words to his love, but of course they came out unintelligible. So the two just leaned into each others' sides, gently closing their eyes, trying to ignore the sting of their binds, trying to find whatever silent comfort they could in each others' warmth and touch. It was the closest thing they had to an escape from this nightmare, if only for a moment.
