A mystical wolf creature that is made from crystals, and his paws will show the way for those who present the golden apple, in turn it will glow blue when Vegvisir or "Wayfinder" is nearby. When Vegvisir visits the lost creature, he will hop around marking the most safest and direct path to the destination they seek. Many explorers carry a golden apple in case they get lost so they could be guided to safety by Vegvisir.

He is from the same area where his golden brother Aegishjalmur is born. They usually travel apart, but folklore says that if you see them together, it means that good fortune and luck will come your way. Although Aegishjalmur has the ability to be invisible, Vegvisir cannot become invisible, at least he will be fully visible even in inclement weather and storms. His fur will always glow blue to guide anyone. He can eat either the apple or the leaves, but he usually eats the apple first, and saves the leaves for his brother, Aegishjalmur.

Vegvisir made his presence when Ratchet was lost in looking for the "Lost Ruins" when he was trying to hunt down the loyal disciple of the Demon Lord that made the Lost Ruins his home world after Ratchet unintentionally released him from the underworld. Vegvisir was worried that Ratchet could get seriously harmed, so he granted Ratchet the ability to have full telekinetic power, which also includes the ability to phase in and out of the reality plane, so anything could pass right through him like he was never there. After being granted such a power, Ratchet can control space and time, Vegvisir knew he will only use it for good not evil, otherwise his brother Aegishjalmur will be enraged.

As soon Vegvisir granted him the ability, his brother Aegishjalmur showed up, and he checked the purity of Ratchet's soul, which he proved to have an heart of gold. After Ratchet offered Aegishjalmur some golden leaves, Ratchet could feel Aegishjalmur's talons holding onto his shoulder and back but ever so gently not harming him. Aegishjalmur wanted to see the Lost Ruins as well, but did not know where it is so he depended on his brother Vegvisir to show the way.

The path was perilous and thunderstorms kept hampering the progress they made, but Vegvisir was able to lead them to the most safest route despite the storms. His fur kept glowing blue, so darkness did not befall the trio. Ratchet was fully aware of the folklore, and was very thankful that those brothers were willing to help him.
