Hirsutian
"Demi-amorphicus pilus"
Also known as the "hairy quivrii" or "mountain quivrii", these demi-amorphicans live in high mountain forests, building hidden villages in ravines and rocky crevices above the timberline. Hirsutians have antennas like quivrii, but six are under developed; consisting of just nubs that are hidden by thick fur. Two are developed into long, feathery antennas that are used to sense the surroundings and emit various sounds. Two other antennas are developed into wings, which can help the hirsutian fly a little better in the thin mountain air.
Hirsutians eat a variety of plants and mushrooms that they forage from the surrounding forest, but their favorite food is blood. They drink the blood of elk and deer that they raise and protect for this purpose, careful to not drink enough to kill the animal. They lull animals to sleep by making barely audible sounds with their antennas. The sounds are made by vibrating the antennas at varying frequencies.
Hirsutians will feed from humans and other non-native species that wander into their territory, but typically only if they are very hungry.
In winter, hirsutians hibernate intermittently, waking to drink a thick mixture of warm milk, blood and chocolate while telling stories around a fire. The antennas fall off around the first snowstorm and regrow in early spring.
