Hojo might have been right about the kids of Aerith and Red XIII. However he did turn Vincent's son (Sepheroth) into a monster for the soul peruse to trigger Omega, and then become a god. Draining the whole planet of it's life force to do so with sights on doing it to the whole galaxy.
