Various places, actually. The blue and white I found in the LA Fashion District, but it's just ordinary pane velvet- easy to find. The black scaly I brought with me from Winnipeg when I moved down here to SoCal- I got it at Walmart, of all places. The blaze on the tail tip I made out the blue velvet, some hologram fabric and a piece of black organza then appliqued it all to the black stuff.
Hmm, how wide do you need (not just long)? This stuff is sixty inches wide, uncut, and has a definite grain to the pattern as well as the fabric. I could send you a 3/4 yard piece at sixty inches wide- that's plenty to make one tail, even. I can go look it over and see what I have left. I just would need to know what country you're in- if it's international, shipping will ugly and eat whatever funds you might be willing to send for it. ;-p
Awesome! The scale pattern runs along the length of the fabric- it's sort of this lizard/croc thing where it narrows and widens like a real "hide" would if ya skinned a lizard. I'll look at the material tomorrow and measure it to see what I actually have there. This tail- is it for Bix? (I know you have another tail for her, though) Oh, cool thing about this fabric- non-stretchy and it's slightly iridescent, especially under florescent lights. I discovered that when I was making some tails earlier- my workroom has compact florescents.
Anyway, gotta crash. We can discuss fun later. >^__^<
